Description:
A fine bead of bubbles rises gently against a pale gold background. The nose is open and expressive, with notes of acacia honey and a hint of cocoa. These are followed by subtle aromas of bergamot, hay and menthol. A balanced creaminess on the palate confirms the expression given on the nose. The wine is rounded and of remarkable length. The rich and concentrated character, typical of the 1989 vintage is perfectly reflected in this wine. Serve very chilled. (6 x 75 cl)

Pommery PRESTIGE CUVEE LOUISE VintageChampagne Description: 1989 was an exceptional year, on a par with 1976, 1947 ... 1893. For the first time in the Champagne region, experts referred to an "outstanding vintage" at the end of the wine-harvest. The very mild winter was followed by an almost summer-like month of March. Despite a little frost in April, the warm spring led to early flowering prompted by a sun-drenched summer. Harvesting began on 7 September in the earliest Chardonnay growths, almost 3 weeks before the start of the grape harvest in a normal year. Finally, the crop was very healthy and the acidity generally satisfactory for this outstanding harvest. A remarkably complex champagne because of the combination of aromas that the Chardonnay and Pinot noir grapes deliver after years of maturing in cellars.The aroma is a mixture of dried fruit, hazelnut, almost sugar-coated almonds combined with dried figs. The wine's subtlety is enhanced by notes of lemon, and apricot. This feast of aromas dwells wonderfully in the mouth. The final, still fresh, note, enhanced by a slightly acidic top note, produces a highly vigorous wine. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £531.46

This current release is a great successor to these wines and exemplifies the best of our estate-grown chardonnay. This is a luscious wine, round and full-bodied with an exceedingly long finish. The 1997 has aromas of tropical fruit and floral notes of Freesia and honeysuckle. Components of toast, cream and citrus enhance these scents of fruits and flowers creating rich body and complex flavors. The tiny bubbles create a silky texture. The 1997 vintage was a great classic in Carneros. The nights were exceptionally cool followed by foggy mornings and sunny breezy days. A very long ripening period allowed time for fruit flavor development which coalesced in a final sparkling wine of power and elegance. The blend of the 1997 Le Rêve is 100% chardonnay selected from our six different estate-grown clones. It has been aged on the yeast for over five years. The 2000 growing season was a classic for the Carneros--long and cool creating a wine of great structure and longevity. This vintage produced wines of great balance and elegance.
