Capezzana GHIAIE della FURBA Carmignano Toscana Description: Deep dark red coloured wines with earthy nose, while the rich ripe fruit character dominates. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, finish this is a wine to savour. This wine was created by Capezzana in 1979 when Ugo and Vittorio Contini Bonacossi decided to create a wine in Carmignano with a Bordeaux blend of grape varieties. The first vineyard, made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, was situated on the pebbly, alluvial soil of the Furba stream, after which the wine is named. In 1992 the St. Alessandro vineyard became productive and the wine's blend of grape varieties was modified. Furthermore in 1998 Syrah grapes added and today the wine is produced from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon , Merlot and Syrah . Ghiaie della Furba is matured for a year in barriques and laid down for a further 12 months in bottles. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £146.41
