Legend has it that the wines name, which means Tears of Christ, alludes to Lucifers fall from heaven. Lucifer carried away a tract of paradise with him to make a kingdom on earth for himself. He let this treasure fall into the Gulf of Naples. Seeing himself deprived of this beauty, Christ wept onto the slopes of Mount Vesuvius.
