This region is very rainy and humid, producing excellent quality grapes to prepare these sparkling wines. The special climate ensures adequate acidity in the Macabeo and Parellada grape varieties. Faithful to the craftsman method used to prepare cavas, Castell de Vilarnau produces marvellous sparkling wine, aged 52 months in bottle. Today, this mysterious and legendary cellar continues to hold the finest, estate grown wines of Casillero del Diablo. A blend of 85% Carmenere, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Syrah, the grapes are hand and mechanically harvested. 70% of the wine is aged in American oak for 8 months, 30% is aged in stainless steel for 8 months. This wine is a dark and deep crimson red colour with a bouquet of luscious dark fruit flavours. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, 70% of the wine is aged in small American oak for six to eight months, 30% is aged in stainless steel for 8 months. A dark red coloured wine with a great bouquet of appealing ripe cherries, black currant and dark plums with a touch of vanilla and toasted oak.
