Description: TASTING NOTE This wine has a crisp tropical fruit and pineapple flavour and is soft and round with a clean zesty finish. WINEMAKERS NOTES Mother Nature chose to smile on the unique high altitude wine country of Mendoza, making the 2002 harvest perhaps the best in the last ten years. The white grapes were the first to arrive, having been given the opportunity to achieve maximum ripeness. The fruit was full of intense aromatics, rich varietal fruit flavours and well-balanced acidity. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Grapes are sourced from 12 and 20 year old vineyards in Agrelo, grown at an altitude of 1000m. Description: TASTING NOTE The philosophy behind this wine is to combine the sweet, ripe and fruity character of Malbec with the spicy, black fruit flavours of Syrah. The result is a pleasant, sweet, aromatic wine which is highly palatable, with an excellent concentration and body. Grapes are sourced from 12 and 20 year old vineyards in Agrelo, grown at an altitude of 1000m. The grapes are handpicked and then fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeast. WINEMAKERS NOTES Following 100% malo-lactic fermentation the wine is blended after the first racking to help marry the varietals. Description: Colour attractive ruby brilliant with hints of purple Nose: wild red ripe fruits, cassis, black cherry fruit with some spices. With a touch of vanilla from the oak Palate: sweet, round, velvet texture. Medium body. Highly drinkable WINEMAKERS NOTES Both varities were picked very ripe when the fruits black cherry, cassis and black plums flavors were in their optimum point. Description: Cherry red colour showing an elegant and subtle nose of black fruits, including plum, give way to well-integrated spicy notes. On the liquorice dominated palate this Monastrell is smooth at the beginning, medium structured, non-ridged, well-balanced, with outstanding acidity and tannins but very well integrated. The Castano family has 410 hectares of vineyards in Yecla in south eastern Spain. They symbolise the best of what southern Spain has to offer: rich, warm climate wines made from grapes grown at altitude and transformed into robustly modern wines. The vineyard represents 400 hectares in four different areas of Yecla and the Hecula comes from Campo Arriba sub-zone with an altitude between 400 and 700 metres that produce lively, zesty fruit.
