De Venoge LOUIS XV Grand Cru Vintage Champagne
Description: The brand name was registered in 1864. Typically, Grand Vin des Princes is a very special blend of Blanc de Blancs from grands crus on the Côte des Blancs. This cuvée was created for the Princes of Orange but was made available to the general public in 1858, the idea being to win clients from amongst the great families of Europe. Since 1961 it has been housed in a special bottle shaped like a decanter, as a reminder of the way it used to be served in the 19th century. Grand Vin des Princes is still served at royal banquets at the court of Emperor Akihito of Japan for example. Its marvellous structure and concentrated aromas make it a superb match for lobster, monkfish or even caviar. For the record, in 1895 De Venoge registered the brands "Cuvée des Princes", "Cuvée Princière", "Champagne des Princes", "Réserve des Princes" and also "Champagne Rouge des Princes" and "Tisane des Princes", a very sweet champagne. De Venoge BLANC de BLANCS Vintage Champagne
Description: Established in Epernay since 1839, De Venoge naturally has very close links with the Côte des Blancs and Sézanne, the two main growing areas for chardonnay. So since the middle of the 19th century our Vintage Blanc de Blancs has been made with a blend of 80% grapes from the Côte des Blancs and 20% from the area around Sézanne. It therefore stands out from other Blancs de Blancs made in Champagne and shows the superbly balanced acidity and structure of the grapes from the Côte and the vinosity of those from Sézanne. Like all great white wines De Venoge Blanc de Blancs can be drunk as an aperitif, with seafood or with fish. We have found that our Blanc de Blancs tends to develop much more complex aromas if it is cellared for two or three years. (6 x 75 cl)

Bruno Paillard Premiere Cuvee Brut Reims Champagne
Description: Bruno Paillard is charming and urbane. His house style is supremely elegant with minerally finesse and of consistently high quality. A blend of Pinot Noir , Chardonnay qnd Pinot Meunier has produced a golden straw colour that reveals a high presence of Chardonnay and the exclusive use of the first pressing. The fine and smooth bubbles are due to a strict selection of the best grapes, a perfectly controlled temperature in the cellar and a very long ageing. The first aromas reveal the citrus fruits of Chardonnay like lime and grapefruit. Then the red fruits aromas of Pinot Noir appear like red-currant, raspberry, morello cherries. While opening in the glass, the wine shows hints of dried fruits, sometimes exotics from Pinot Meunier. Lively entry thanks to a low dosage, the nose is confirmed in the mouth. First flavours of citrus, almonds, toasted bread very soon joined by red-currant jelly but also dark fruits like cherry, fig and blackberry. While opening in the glass, getting warmer, the wine expresses light plum and pear flavours. The mouth is full, quite long with a very clean finish. Elegance, complexity, this wine is the exact translation of the Bruno Paillard style. (12 x 75 cl)

Perrier Jouet BELLE EPOQUE Vintage Champagne
Description: Cuvee Belle Epoque was launched in 1969, reminding the world of this great Champagne house's history and identifying it with an Art Nouveau style. Since then, this champagne has become the emblem of Perrier-Jouet, and the ambassador of its expertise. Apart from making an excellent champagne, Perrier-Jouet was the first champagne house to have dared decorate its bottle with flowers. Today, the flower-covered bottle is now instantly recognised all over the world. This bottle with its swirl of dainty anemones holds Perrier-Jouet's most remarkable champagne and is one of the world's best known prestige cuvees. The success story began with the discovery of a bottle designed by Emile Galle in 1902. The bottle was so strikingly beautiful that Perrier-Jouet resolved to fill it with a prestige champagne. To achieve this the best grands crus in its vineyard were selected; with a predominance of Chardonnay grapes from the Cote des Blancs district; next it was blended to make a subtle, elegant, refined champagne. The harvest is sometimes so outstanding that Perrier-Jouet decides to make a vintage Cuvee Belle Epoque. 1996 was one such year, when the quality of the grapes signalled a remarkable harvest from the outset. Cuvee Belle Epoque 1996 is a harmonious blend of the most prestigious crus in the Champagne wine-making region. The most important are Cramant and Avi ze for Chardonnay; Mailly, Verzenay, Verzy and Bouzy for Pinot Noir; and Aÿ and Dizy for Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. Greenish-gold in colour this champagne has a magnificent, crystalline brightness, while the wine presents an intense, strong effervescence, with fine and regular bubbles. A reflection of the seasons, with soft notes of white flowers, honey and lemon they are married with the aromas of fresh fruits like plums and pineapple. The flavour confirms the richness of the bouquet with its initial freshness being light but strong and lively, it has some subtle notes of honey and vanilla, culminating in good length on the finish. Limited Availability. (6 x 75 cl)

Pommery PRESTIGE CUVEE LOUISE Vintage Champagne
Description: 1989 was an exceptional year, on a par with 1976, 1947 ... 1893. For the first time in the Champagne region, experts referred to an "outstanding vintage" at the end of the wine-harvest. The very mild winter was followed by an almost summer-like month of March. Despite a little frost in April, the warm spring led to early flowering prompted by a sun-drenched summer. Harvesting began on 7 September in the earliest Chardonnay growths, almost 3 weeks before the start of the grape harvest in a normal year. Finally, the crop was very healthy and the acidity generally satisfactory for this outstanding harvest. A remarkably complex champagne because of the combination of aromas that the Chardonnay and Pinot noir grapes deliver after years of maturing in cellars. The aroma is a mixture of dried fruit, hazelnut, almost sugar-coated almonds combined with dried figs. The wine's subtlety is enhanced by notes of lemon, and apricot. This feast of aromas dwells wonderfully in the mouth. The final, still fresh, note, enhanced by a slightly acidic top note, produces a highly vigorous wine. (6 x 75 cl)

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin WHITE LABEL Demi-Sec Non Vintage Champagne
Description: Continuity of style is all-important to Veuve Clicquot, and it is displayed year after year in Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec. Like Brut Yellow Label, Demi-Sec is a blend of several good years, but behind its white label is a very different wine, sweeter yet equally mature and balanced. Demi-Sec is a Champagne blended from wines of several good years, each one made of the grapes of Veuve Clicquot's legendary Premiers and Grands Crus. The blend comprises about 56% Pinot Noir, about 28% Chardonnay and about 16% Pinot Meunier. The glorious sweetness of Demi-Sec derives from a weighty dosage of sugar mixed with reserve wine. This is added during dégorgement, after the second fermentation, producing a more soft and supple balance but always retaining the freshness so essential in a sweet wine. The wine is bright and clear, a rich yellow colour with golden shades, with a persistent and delightful sparkle. On the nose it is rich and intense, dominated by nutty, spicy aromas- almonds, nougat, honey and ginger. It is of course sweet on the palate, but this is a refreshing sweetness, not in the least cloying. The taste is well balanced, reminiscent of plums and dried fruits. This finish is both soft and very smooth.
