Description: In the renowned Martinborough Terrace region Palliser Estate has approximately 85 hectares under Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris grape varieties. Palliser Estate have found that even over the relatively small area they cultivate, there are great differences in soil types and climate which all help to add complexity to the wines it crafts. The Pencarrow range is the second wine of Palliser Estate. Under this label Palliser are able to experiment with the grape to develop new wine styles from traditional varietals. The wine was fermented in a mixture of American and French oak barrels. It remained on lees in cask for seven months with 10% of the wine spontaneously fermented with wild yeasts. Care in the winery has produced a very attractive nose of ripe stone fruits and floral characters with a hint of sweet oak and creamy notes. The palate shows delicious mouth feel, full of ripe fruits, and is beautifully textured and smooth right to the finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Consistency of climate and abundant sunshine in the Ardeche perfectly ripen these bunches of grapes, whilst the drying Mistral wind eliminates any risk of rot. The Grand Ardeche is treated as if it were grown in one of the Grand Cru vineyards of the Cote d'Or. Fully-ripened grapes are selected and pressed lightly before being aged in oak barrels made at the Latour cooperage in Beaune. The result is a full-bodied wine that is smooth with notes reminiscent of exotic fruits and vanilla spice imparted by the oak. Soil: Clay and chalk. Vinification: Traditional oak barrel ageing with 100% malolactic fermentation. Grand Ardeche 1998 tasted April 11th 2000: The rich lemon gold hue invites you to sniff the ripe open nose of fresh tropical and citrus fruit aromas with integrated smoky vanilla oak flavours. In the mouth, a warm creamy texture coats the mouth with layers of ripe fruit balanced by freshness and a long smooth finish. World Champion Sommelier 1995, Mr Tasaki Shinya strongly recommends Louis Latour's Grand Ardeche: 'The colour is pure lemon gold, with a warm viscous appearance. The nose is peachy with intense honeyed fruits and a toasty nutty oak complexity. On the palate it is rich and fruity with balanced acidity and a long fresh finish.' The Wine Magazine, April 1999 tasted the Grand Ardeche 1996: 87 points. 'Another wine from Louis Latour, from an equally classic Burgundian grape, Chardonnay. Nice soft fruity apple flavours. A pleasantly floral nose while the palate is almost sweet with a soft texture'. The Wine Enthusiast November 15, 1998 tasting Grand Ardeche 1996: 'Bright pale golden cast. Moderately full-bodied. Full acidity. Highly extracted. Moderately oaked. Vanilla, smoke, yeast. Quite aromatic, with a toasty oak accent and yeasty flavours throughout. Full and rich, yet crisp through the finish. 87 points'. Decanter October 1997 tasting Grand Ardeche 1995 recommended 'Vegetal, complex, voluptuous, honeyed and ripe on the nose. Rich, ripe and vegetal again on the palate with a little vanilla of new oak and backing acidity.' The famous French Guide Hachette reviews the Grand Ardeche 1996: 'Consistency and excellence. These two words define the quality of Chardonnay wine produced by Louis Latour in the Ardeche since the 1980's. Vinified and aged in oak barrels, this wine is a complex mixture of scented flowers, spice and even balsamic fragrances. Description: Our Laguna Vineyard Chardonnay displays the intense peach, pear, apple and melon of a great cool-climate Chardonnay. Accentuated by the creaminess from sur-lie aging along with the sweet vanilla and toastiness from the oak barrels, this wine is deliciously complex with a long, lingering finish. Grapes for this wine were handpicked and sent whole cluster to a membrane press, bypassing the crusher to reduce the potential for bitter tannin extraction. A press cut was taken at approx. 140 gallons/ton to increase elegance and eliminate phenolic harshness.Grapes were gently pressed in whole clusters to increase elegance and minimize phenolics. Our family's Laguna Ranch Vineyard, originally planted in the late 1800's, is located in the Region I hillsides of the Russian River Valley. Soils here are a combination of gravelly and sandy loam, referred to as Sebastopol series. The fog that lingers here throughout the day makes this one of our coolest Sonoma County vineyards, and produces Chardonnay grapes with crisp acidity and concentrated citrus, apple, and pear flavors and aromas. With three generations and over six decades of experience in northern Sonoma, our family believes that the secret to making world class wines is to begin with world class grapes. This is why we vigorously shoot-thinned and leaf-removed vines to intensify varietal character for this wine. The palate is full, round and demonstrates a rich mixture of caramel, vanilla, and citrus characters. The finish is fresh with the flavours lingering in the palate.Grapes where harvested at Warwick at 24,5 ºB from blocks with a typical density of 3000 vines per hectare. Sixty percent of this wine spent eight months in new French oak after fermentation in the same barrels. During the time in barrel the lees was stirred weekly to increase the fullness of the wine. Trinity Hill Hawke's Bay Chardonnay NZ DUPLICATE
Description: Hawkes Bay has a unique micro climate where vines reach deep into the stony, free draining soil of the old Ngaruroro riverbed, sheltered from the prevailing Westerly winds, basking in an abundance of dry, warm weather. At Trinity Hill's Gimblett Road Vineyards, the river stones gently release their heat long after the sun has set. This helps to promote perfect ripening of the grapes. Vines are planted, trained and pruned to expose as much leaf and fruit to sunlight as possible. North-South planted vine rows allow the mid day sun to warm the ground between rows, while removal of shoots and flowers early in the season reduces the crop level and opens the vine out to light and air. Using these techniques, the winegrowers at Trinity Hill grow moderate crops to consistently produce concentrated flavour and colour intensity in the finished wine. Typical fruit characters from Hawkes Bay Chardonnay such as grapefruit and melon are supplemented by biscuity barrel ferment characters with a light butteriness from the malolactic fermentation.
