Chateau Larrivet Haut Brion Pessac-Leognan
Description: Chateau Larrivet Haut Brion is located 15 kilometres from the centre of Bordeaux in the heart of the Pessac Léognan appellation. Thanks to its acquisition by the Andros group in 1987, the estate has finally come into its own again. Following consolidation, the area under vine is now the same as at the end of the 19th century. In light of the special nature of the soil, manager Philippe Gervoson does everything in his power to adapt his wine growing to the terroir, using the methods applied by the region’s great estates. In 1996 Philippe decided to take another step towards greater quality by employing well known oenologist Michel Rolland. The grapes are hand picked as late as possible for maximum ripeness and carefully sorted before crushing. Winemaking is carried out over eighteen months, 3 months after the harvest, when the malolactic fermentation is over, the wine is put into oak barrel, one-third new each year. Racked every three months, it remains there until bottling which takes place in the spring of the second year following the harvest. Full of finesse the Chateau Larrivet Haut Brion wines are characterised as being soft, well balanced with a good tannic structure. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot reach their peak between five and 20 years cellaring. The 2000 vintage is a the deep ruby-purple-coloured wine that has aromas of ripe dark forest fruits and new oak. The blend is, firm, tannic, concentrated with a medium to full-body style while the sweetness of fruit complements a lengthy finish. Available in half bottles. (24 x 37.5 cl)

Chateau Haut Bailly Cru Classe Pessac-Leognan
Description: Chateau Haut-Bailly vineyard is on a single plot on the highest land in the commune of Leognan. Picked and sorted by hand the 2001 harvest provided one of the smallest yields because the number of bunches per vine was reduced to 6. However, the harvest provided highly concentrated grapes, the Merlots are rich in colour, fruit and tannin, while the Cabernet Sauvignon gives the impression of consistency, elegance and richness, resulting in a vintage which should show character, vivacity and lusture. The wine has a dark ruby colour and black berry fruit dominate the aromas and palate. The tannin structure is medium bodied and a subtle finish is surprisingly fruity. Limited Availability. Chateau Haut Bailly Cru Classe Pessac-Leognan
Description: Chateau Haut-Bailly vineyard is on a single plot on the highest land in the commune of Leognan. The weather during the spring of 1998 was very wet followed by a hot, dry May. Mid flowering occurred on the 4th June, ten days ahead of normal. With Veraison, consistent with flowering, was quick and uniform allowing the harvest to strat on 23 September. However, the summer was very hot with no rain in July and August, although during early September the rain came once more. The Merlot was picked before the rain and the Cabernet Sauvignon remained healthy in spite of the rain. The Merlot was of a remarkable quality and produced a remarkable colour and richness of tannins. The wine has been put together with a lot of sophistication to produce a harmonious wine full of dense, ripe flavours of black fruits, superb tannins and a long fantastic finnish. (12 x 75 cl)
