Chateau L'Evangile Pomerol Bordeaux
Description: HISTORY Chateau l'Evangile has a distinguished history of stunning vintages and produces wines of great depth. The late, passionately devoted Louis Ducasse administered the estate for many years, and his formidable wife Madame Ducasse continued the tradition with equal fervor well into her 90's. Realizing the chateau's unlimited potential, the Rothschild family purchased a controlling interest in the estate in 1990. VINIFICATION The 35 acre vineyard is brilliantly situated on deep gravelly soil mixed with clay and sand. Late harvesting lowers yields but produces rich, concentrated wines. The proportion of new oak barrels used for aging runs to 50% or even higher. STYLE The outstanding Chateau l'Evangile has one of the best reputations in Pomerol, which it well deserves. The mature wine shows a rich, full-bodied nose of black fruits , chocolate, toffee, and roasted herbs. The complex bouquet accompanies a medium acidity typical of Merlot-based wines and ripe, plush flavors of compelling richness. Most vintages have strong tannins, giving Chateau l'Evangile one of Pomerol's best potential aging profiles of six to twenty-five or even more years following the vintage. A quality equivalent to that of a Medoc first growth gives this hard-to-find wine the potential to be one of the area's big stars even in lesser vintages. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Tournefeuille Lalande-de-Pomerol
Description: This red is a blend of 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc and once the fruit is in the winery it will finally spend 2 months in 100% in French oak barrels, a third of which are new each year. Chateau Tournefeuille, located in the village of Neac a few footsteps from the church, extends over 18 hectares of vines, forming a unified whole around the chateau, the vat-room, and the chai. But its distinctiveness lies in the fabulous slope on which it is perched, which offers a splendid panorama. Here the vineyard planted on gravel and clay soil typical of Pomerol, is facing the Southwest, where the merlot and cabernet franc grapes draw their complexity from this terroir, making for a beautiful wine at maturity. Chateau La Conseillante Pomerol
Description: Chateau La Conseillante is located on the highest part of the Pomerol plateau. The soil has a large concentration of clay in the northern part, bordering of Petrus, and clay-gravel soil in the southern part, bordering on Chateau Cheval Blanc. Five generations of the Nicolas family have worked hard to maintain La Conseillante's excellent reputation over the past 126 years. Care is taken to keep yields low and produce perfectly ripe grapes, which are hand picked. Chateau La Conseillante is aged in 100% new oak barrels in great vintages. La Conseillante is full, round, velvety and creamy with all the voluptuous softness of Merlot combined with the finesse of Cabernet Franc, which also contributes a fruity bouquet with hints of truffle. A perfect balance between elegance and power is the hallmark of La Conseillante. Clay-gravel on iron-oxide rich subsoil. "There is round, lush, ripe fruit medium body, exceptional elegance and purity, and a soft, velvety-textured finish. Think of it as liquid charm and silk. Anticipated maturity, 2000-2014." Chateau Haut-Ferrand Pomerol
Description: Lying on the southern slopes of the Pomerol plateau the Chateau Ferran vineyard is one of the oldest in the region. With an iron rich subsoil, , containing a large amount of iron-pan which gives it that highly characteristic taste of a Pomerol wine. Before the war, this estate in a single piece was enlarged and reconstituted with a judicious grape mix consisting of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Intelligently vinified, the wine of Ferrand- which is sometiems partly sold with the label Chateau Vieux Ferrand- is soft and very delicate, similar to certain Medoc wines. Its fine demeanor and its great finesse makes it very justifiably appreciated. The gravel part near the church in Pomerol and its old vines, planted mainly to Merlot are vinified separately and produce a better class wine sold with the brand name chateau Haut Ferrand.
