The wine is 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc & 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are on average 25 years old, a great age for producing well balanced wines. In maturing the wines the most traditional methods are used: 150 oak stave barrels, one third of which are renewed every year. A further guarantee of quality is that bottling takes place at the chateau 18-20 months after harvesting. By that time the wine has a fine, deep colour and is tannic without being too aggressive. The fruit makes it a pleasant drink in it's early years, but reaches full maturity at five to ten years old, sometimes more.
