Chateau Canon 1er Grand Cru Classe B Saint Emilion
Description: In 1760, Jacques Kanon, bought Saint Martin vineyard on top of one of the finest slopes in Saint Emilion. In 1919 the estate was bought by Monsieur and Madame Fournier, who invested a great deal of knowledge and effort into the property. Their grandchildren inherited their passion for wine. In 1996 the estate was purchased by the Wertheimer family, who also own the firm of Chanel. Canon's vineyard is located on a former limestone quarry and as a result the sub soil is full of underground galleries. The topsoil is mainly clay-limestone. Chateau Maucaillou Cru Bourgeois Moulis
Description: Thanks to its ideal vineyard conditions and to the loving care given to the wine during vinemaking, ageing and bottling, Châteati Maucaillou is a wine of exceptional quality and is in no way inferior to many estates classified in 1855. The main reason it was not itself classified at that time is that the château was not built, nor did vineyard come into being until 1875. As with all great growths, Maucaillou is always good in difficult years because only perfectly ripe grapes are picked and because selection both at harvest time and during vinemaking is particularly rigorous and stringent. Increasing recognition of its high quality is making Maucaillou more and more sought after by connoisseurs the world over. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau Lynch Bages 5eme Cru Classe Pauillac
Description: The Lynch-Bages estate is located just outside the city of Pauillac, overlooking the Gironde estuary, on one of the most beautiful gravelly outcrops in the appellation. The well-drained soil consists mainly of Garonne gravel. The sub-soil forms a solid, but fairly disjointed foundation, enabling the roots of old vines to grow to a depth of 6-8 metres. In 1974, Jean-Michel Cazes set about restructuring the estate. He equipped it with up-to-date technical facilities, but kept the old vat room dating from last century intact. It is now one of the Médoc's most unusual sights. The grapes are hand-picked and the wine is made in a vat room containing 35 stainless steel vats equipped with temperature control systems. Lynch-Bages made primarily from Cabernet-Sauvignon, is famous for its fine bouquet and rich tannin, which becomes soft and delicious with age. Lynch-Bages is powerful with a long aftertaste. It is typical of the greatest wines of Pauillac. The 1999 vintage is displaying a dense purple colour as well as low acidity. This blackberry and cassis-flavoured wine possesses a fat, juicy mid-section, and outstanding purity, ripeness, and glycerin in the long finish, which oozes over the palate with no bumps. The tannin is well-concealed by the wealth of chewy fruit. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau de Campuget PRESTIGE DE CHATEAU CAMPUGET Costieres de Nimes AC
Description: Chateau de Campuget, which belongs to the Dalle family since 1941, is producing great A.O.C. Costieres de Nimes wines. The vineyard of 160 hectares is situated in the heart of the A.O.C. area, between Nimes and Arles, a few kilometres from the right side of the Rhone river. The main characteristic of the 'terroir' is its soil , formed by an accumulation of round stones that had been rolled by many overflows of the Rhone river during the quaternary era. It allows the grapevines to establish their roots deep enough to find the water they need for growing. At the same time they profit of the sunny Mediterranean climate, essential for the good maturation of the grapes. Although equipped with stainless-steel tanks and modern tools, Chateau Campuget wines are made and matured in a traditional way. From its own bottling-line to the air-conditioned warehouse, it can control the quality of the wines from the vineyard to the bottle. Intensely coloured wine with inviting aromas of blackberry and a lick of vanilla oak.

Chateau de Pez Cru Bourgeois Saint Estephe
Description: The domaine of Pez, created in the 15th century, is, along with Calon, the oldest in Saint Estephe. In 1452, squire Jean de Briscos ruled the estate: in 1526 the nobleman Ducos was master, followed by Jean de Pontac in 1585. The Pontac family, who likewise created Haut Brion, gave Pez its vineyards. The property remained in the hands of descendants... the marquis d'Aulede and count de Fumel, until the French Revolution. Sold as a property of the state, the domaine belonged to the Tarteiron and Dousson families in succession. It was purchased in 1995 by Champagne Louis Roederer. Chateau de Pez is located west of the town of Saint Estephe, the estate consists of 30 continuous hectares, with 24 hectares under vine, planted to prime grape varieties, mainly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Chateau de Pez winery remains resolutely faithful to wood. The blend is composed in December, then the wine is stored on barrels and racked every 3 months. After approx. 1 year, roughly midway through the maturation process, the wine is fined using fresh egg whites. It is to be noted that the wine undergoes absolutely no filtration. Chateau de Pez exhibits deep colour and harmonious composition. This complete, rich, dense wine merits ageing. Thanks to the quality of its production, Chateau de Pez is counted amongst the most highly reputed crus of the Medoc. Deep, opaque ruby hue. Forward, opulent spice box, black fruit and mineral aromas. A lush entry leads to a moderately full bodied palate with velvety tannins. Supple and hedonistic with very good flavor intensity. Grippy finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Chateau de Pez Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnal Saint Estephe Bordeaux
Description: The domain of Pez, created in the 15th century, is, with Calon Segur, one of the oldest in Saint-Estephe. In 1452, Squire Jean de Briscos ruled the estate followed in time by Jean de Pontac in 1585. The Pontac family, who also created Haut-Brion, gave Pez its vineyards. The property remained in the hands of their descendents until the French Revolution after which it was sold as a property of the State. When Louis Roederer bought it in 1995 they immediately set about improving the vineyards and cellars. 1996 was the first vintage fully made under the new ownership, and quality has been improving ever since. After approximately 1 year, roughly midway through the maturation process, the wine is fined using fresh egg whites. It is to be noted that the wine undergoes absolutely no filtration. A lovely, fairly sustained colour with light crimson highlights and subtle orangey tones suggesting the beginnings of evolution. The nose is Very fruity initially, then after a brief airing reveals traces of lush, ripe fruits mingled with aromas of toast and Virginia tobacco. The Palate is Elegant and supple with a rounded, supple attack. Impressive, fairly tight-grained tannins but with the softness to be expected from such a hot vintage. The alcohol content creates an impression of fatness, leaving the palate with an unusually ‘sweet’ sensation. The finish is so wonderfully rounded that you could easily mistake this for a wine from a hot terroir if you did not know otherwise. Rather atypical in style, but with that immense framework characteristic of a great Médoc. Supple and hedonistic with very good flavour intensity. Grippy finish. (12 x 75 cl)
