Domaine de la Vougeraie CLOSDU PRIEURE Blanc Vougeot
Description: For the first 680 years of this vineyard's history, it was tended by the monks of Citeaux, who planted the Clos de Vougeot and the majority of the neighbouring plots at the start of the 12th century. The Closdu Prieure, like the rest, was sold off at the end of the 18th century under the French Revolution. Located in the climate known as Le Village, it is separated from the neighbouring vines by a small track to the west and a stream to the East, the Vouge, which gave its name to the village and to this Domaine. Vougeot is located in the Cote de Nuits, between Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanee, some twenty kilometres to the south of Dijon. The Closdu Prieure name recalls the Priory, which used to own this land. The enclosure wall stands to this day, a rare occurrence in Burgundy. The Domaine began converting to organic agriculture in 1994, using pest management techniques instead of pest control for the first time. All the vineyards now use organic methods, chosen solely because they respect the environment. After whole bunch pressing the wine is fermented in barrels, although no yeast or enzyme are added. The wine is then aged atleast 11 months in the barrel, with 30% new Oak, and stirred on lees once a week. Mineral hints on the nose through to a clean attack on the palate, showing citrus fruit flavours with a lovely freshness on the finish.
Domaine de la Vougeraie CLOSDU PRIEURE Blanc Vougeot
Description: Though Vougeot is best known for the highly reputed Clos de Vougeot, covering almost 126 acres, the Premier Cru and Village appellations in the remaining 41 acres should not be forgotten. This 100% Chardonnay is aged in barrels for 11 months and is a pale golden colour full of light, with green hints. A good nose it is quite closed, which opens after aeration to reveal mineral notes, almost chalky, complimented by floral and menthol fragrances. The attack is clean, the mouth voluptuous, yet elegant, with aromas of bitter almond, held together by good acidity which brings its crispness to the fore. With a length worthy of a 1er cru, it has a savory finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £401.26

Domaine Patrick Javillier CLOSDU CROMIN Meursault
Description: Based in Meursault Patrick Javillier is one of the top three wine makers in the village. He owns a little Corton-Charlemagne and a minuscule plot of Meursault Charmes, but otherwise the estate consists entirely of 'village' vineyards. However, a village wine from Javillier usually outshines a Premier Cru from most of his neighbours. These are classic Meursaults, and his Bourgogne blancs are very serious, mineral-driven wines. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £382.29

Domaine de la Vougeraie BEL AIR Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru
Description: Over 100 years ago one would hear talk of the Chateau Bel Air, standing dominant over the Grand Crus. The name Bel Air signifies an area where the air was purer than elsewhere. However, for the first 680 years of this vineyard's history, it was tended by the monks of Citeaux, who planted the Clos de Vougeot and the majority of the neighbouring plots at the start of the 12th century. This was the first Domaine de la Vougeraie vineyard back in 1966. Its name derives from Les Brosselles, which meant a patch of scrubland. This climate is ideally located on the wildest, most unpretentious part of the village. The vines are on a steep east-south-east slope, with just the right degree of calcareous soil, a dream plot. At 350m and 15km south of Dijon, this parcel located in Gevrey-Chambertin, is right at the heart of the Cote de Nuits. It nestles between two prestigious cousins
