This Vin Santo Riserva is intense golden yellow in colour. It has great depth on the nose, with perfumes of dried fruit, and candied peel. On the palate it is intensely sweet but balanced by a freshness with prevents it becoming cloying. Elegant and rich, with orange peel and apricot flavours lingering on the long finish. The Capezzana estate, 24 km north west of Florence, is owned by the Conti Contini Bonacossi family, and at one point all seven children worked in the business. The younger generation is now firmly in charge of the estate, with daughter Benedetta Contini Bonacossi the winemaker. The highly talented Stefano Chioccioli, a protégé of the well-known peripatetic winemaker Vittorio Fiore, is the estate’s wine consultant. Capezzana’s wines have never been better and they continue to improve over the years. (6 x 37.5 cl)
