Domaine Fichet Bourgogne Chardonnay AC
Description: Domaine Fichet is located in Burgundy in the small village of Ige, and more precisely in the hamlet of Martoret. From a long line of wine-growers, only Francis Fichet took the risk of creating his own domaine withdrawing from the co-operative winery of the village during 1976. He prospered and the domaine now totals about 11 ha of vines, of which 3/4 are Gamay and Pinot Noir, the rest is Chardonnay. The various varietals can be found on the two slopes that surround the domaine. The south-east facing slope , with its clay and limestone soil, is planted mainly to red varietals, Gamay and Pinot Noir as well as a portion of the whites . The south-west facing slope , is planted with Chardonnay vines which require more sun. The soil is rich in limestone and chalk which encourages the expression of the vine and favours terroir wines. A nice reflection of the terrior this yellow coloured wine is full of fruity aromas that develop on the palate culminating in an enjoyable finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Pio Cesare L ALTRO Chardonnay DOC Piedmont
Description: In 1981 we planted some Chardonnay vines in a single vineyard of our estate in Treiso, replacing an old vineyard of Barbaresco. Since 1985 we produce with these Chardonnay grapes a limited quantity of barrel fermented Chardonnay called Piodilei. We wanted to keep the quantity of this wine very small and in the meantime we wish to give the chance to a wider number of consumers to enjoy our Chardonnay. In September 1993 we decided to ferment in stainless-steel tanks a part of our Chardonnay: the results was a fresh and vibrant wine with evident hints of ripe fruits. After some experiments we noted that adding to this wine a 25% of the same Chardonnay fermented and aged in new oak barrels, we reached an interesting wine spicy taste and persistent after-taste. So that we decided to create a new Chardonnay, with more pronounced fruity character but slightly lighter style. L'Altro in italian means (12 x 75 cl)

Vergelegen RESERVE SELECTION Chardonnay Helderburg RSA
Description: The first vines to grace Vergelegen's soil were planted in 1700 by Willem Adriaan van der Stel. Some of the varietals planted were Blue Muscadel, Steendruif , White Muscadel and Frontinjac. Today the vineyards at Vergelegen range in altitude from 140 metres above sea level to 310 metres with slopes facing North to North-West and South to South- East. Temperatures are monitored at three automatic and six manually read stations indicate a two degree Celsius difference between the lower, north to north-west facing slopes and the higher plateau and south facing slopes. The climate is mild due to the proximity of False Bay and generally falls within the lower Region 111 by Degree-Days classification. While twenty-one soil types have been identified on Vergelegen and these generally have a very high clay content. Vines have been planted on Clovelly, Glenrosa and Pinedene with cultivars and rootstock selected to best match each soil type, and all the vines are trained vertically onto hedge trellis. The current plantings are Cabernet Sauvignon , Merlot , Cabernet Franc , Shiraz , Sauvignon Blanc , Semillon and Chardonnay . The reserve wine shows an attractive lemony yellow-green colour with a complex nose of citrus, vanilla, butterscotch, tropical fruit and mineral tones. Robertson Winery ASHTON VINEYARD Chardonnay RSA
Description: For the first time in many years there were good rains and cold temperatures during winter in Robertson. It was good in that it helped to build up a little ground water, as it was not necessary to irrigate the vines during the winter months. Spring arrived at the beginning of September; overall bud break was very good due to the cold conditions of winter. Night temperatures in October and November were significantly cooler compared to the previous year. This ensured good acidities. The Chardonnay vines are planted higher up against the mountains on gravelly Karoo soils with some clay and lime fractions. The high lime content in the soil ensures a healthy well drained growing medium for our vines. Chardonnay traditionally buds irregularly, therefore pruning only happens at the end of July to ensure even budding. Our harvest started on 28 January 2003. Attention to detail was well managed and has resulted in good potential in the quality of our wines. The Chardonnay grapes were the first grapes harvested in 2003 and were brought to the cellar in the first week of February. Grapes were harvested at a very ripe stage between 23,5º (12 x 75 cl)

Gallo Family Vineyards COASTAL VINEYARDS Chardonnay North Coast
Description: Our Chardonnay is a fruity wine with a firm structure, crisp acidity and spicy notes. Enjoy this wine with creamy chicken, baked salmon or shrimp salad. The North Coast includes four growing regions: Mendocino, Lake, Sonoma and Napa Counties. Beginning 100 km north of San Francisco, this region is characterized by the fog that drifts in from the San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. This cool coastal fog tempers the warm daytime environment, therefore creating the perfect climate for growing well-balanced grapes. Gallo Family Vineyards LAGUNA RANCH Chardonnay Russian River Valley California
Description: Our Laguna Vineyard Chardonnay displays the intense peach, pear, apple and melon of a great cool-climate Chardonnay. Accentuated by the creaminess from sur-lie aging along with the sweet vanilla and toastiness from the oak barrels, this wine is deliciously complex with a long, lingering finish. Grapes for this wine were handpicked and sent whole cluster to a membrane press, bypassing the crusher to reduce the potential for bitter tannin extraction. A press cut was taken at approx. 140 gallons/ton to increase elegance and eliminate phenolic harshness.Grapes were gently pressed in whole clusters to increase elegance and minimize phenolics. Our family's Laguna Ranch Vineyard, originally planted in the late 1800's, is located in the Region I hillsides of the Russian River Valley. Soils here are a combination of gravelly and sandy loam, referred to as Sebastopol series. The fog that lingers here throughout the day makes this one of our coolest Sonoma County vineyards, and produces Chardonnay grapes with crisp acidity and concentrated citrus, apple, and pear flavors and aromas. With three generations and over six decades of experience in northern Sonoma, our family believes that the secret to making world class wines is to begin with world class grapes. This is why we vigorously shoot-thinned and leaf-removed vines to intensify varietal character for this wine. Hand harvesting of the specially selected vineyard blocks for this wine occurred in late 2000. (6 x 75 cl)
