Description: The Diana Madeline from Cullen is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon with 13% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. This wine has great style and elegance. On the nose it has perfumes of blackcurrant, raspberries, cherries and violets that follow through to black cherry and cassis fruit on the palate. Tannins are ripe and velvety, well-integrated with the new oak. Spicy, autumnal fruit flavours continue to the end of the long finish. Cullen’s flagship wine is named after winemaker Vanya’s pioneering mother Di, and displays an intensity and harmony of fruit that is rare, a result of the fruit grown in this part of Margaret River and of Vanya’s incessant pursuit of quality. Cullen’s 28 hectares of vineyards are located in the Wilyabrup part of Margaret River, an area renowned for producing wines of character and depth. Cullen Wines has become the first carbon neutral winery and vineyard in Australia. The estate vineyard was certified Organic ‘A’ grade in 2003 and Biodynamic ‘A’ grade in 2004 by the Biological Farmers Association of Australia.

Description: The Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon from Cullen is a blend of 82% Sauvignon Blanc and 18% Semillon. It is a delicious wine that displays the aromatic lift characteristic of the vintage. Approximately two thirds of the Sauvignon Blanc was fermented in new barrels to give weight and texture, while the other one third and all of Semillon were tank fermented. The oak remains very firmly in the background, with the fresh fruit flavours dominating on the nose and palate. As with all the Cullen wines, it has a balance and elegance that sets them apart from the crowd. This pursuit of balance starts in the vineyard, where Vanya has progressively moved to organic culture in the search for better fruit and continues in the winery, where a non-interventionist philosophy is adopted in order to maximise the retention of these outstanding fruit characters. Description: The Margaret River Chardonnay from Cullen is a bight and youthful green gold colour, with a complex nose of tropical fruit, nougat, lemon citrus and vanillin oak. The intense fruit characters, so delightfully expressed on the nose, flow through on to the palate where they are beautifully integrated with the subtle oak. There is a silky texture and the finish is refined and long. Vanya Cullen has adopted biodynamic techniques in the past few years as she feels this gives better flavours in her grapes, flavours that reflect the vineyard characteristics. The fruit was picked at perfect physiological ripeness at Baumés ranging from 12.4 to 13.7º, producing an average of just over 13º Baumé, which is relatively low for an Australian Chardonnay. 70% of the wine was fermented using wild yeasts, which contributes to the subtle mouth feel of this wine. This component was matured for just five months in new French oak to ensure that, while oak still had an influence, it remained in the background. 30% of the wine was prevented from undergoing malolactic fermentation, which facilitates the retention of both freshness and natural acidity; meaning that no acid is required to be added to achieve this wines style. This is without doubt one of Australia’s finest Chardonnays. The wine will be available sealed under stelvin so that it can be enjoyed free from cork taint and in perfect condition.
