The reputation of Wynns Coonawarra Estate stretches back four decades to 1951 when David Wynn recognised the potential quality of Coonawarra's wines. He purchased the original cellars built by John Riddoch in 1896 and began a winemaking legacy that continues to this day. The only blend in the range, Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot captures all the elegant fruit character that Coonawarra has to offer in a wine that drinks best while relatively young. The Cabernet provides flavour, length and structure; the Shiraz imparts a spicy complexity and richness, while the Merlot adds softness. The resulting red offers a rich balance of varietal characters in a smooth and approachable wine. Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon , Shiraz and Merlot . Oak Maturation: Matured for 10 months in a mix of new and used American and French oak barrels. Colour: Deep red with purple hues. Nose: Fragrant, leafy aromas with hints of mint and eucalyptus underlined with dusty oak. Palate: The palate is earthy and supple with soft, dark, berry fruit with a spicy finish and fresh aftertaste. This wine is made for current drinking, thus would only benefit from short-term cellaring. (6 x 75 cl)

Nottage Hill Cabernet Shiraz South Eastern Australia

Charles Melton ROSE OF VIRGINIA Barossa Valley South Australia
Description: The Charles Melton Rose of Virginia is a blend of 50% Grenache, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon with a dash of Pinot Meunier and Shiraz. A vivid fuschia in colour from 1 to 3 days skin contact, it has lovely aromatic Grenache perfumes on the nose, which are given a touch of spice by the Shiraz and Cabernet. The tiny proportion of Pinot Meunier adds further interest. On the palate the wine is well-balanced, with good mid-palate richness and the surprising weight and trademark tannins of the Rose of Virginia. Charles Melton Wines has produced premium Barossa red wines since 1984. Charlie and a small band of Barossa winemakers turned their winemaking efforts to what were then considered a couple of unfashionable varieties: Shiraz and Grenache. These wines were initially styled on those from the Rhone but are now considered leading examples of the varieties in their own right. The wines have always attracted national and international recognition, and an enduring commitment to dry farmed vineyards and careful crafting of the wine will ensure that this continues.
