Domaine des Jougla CUVEE INITIALE SaintChinianLanguedoc Description: Alain Jougla, whose family can be traced back as owning the property since 1595, must be one of southern FranceÕs superstars. The property lies between 95 and 107 metres above sea level in a hot dry Mediterranean climate, 2/3 of the vines situated on foliated shale rock and the remainder on alluvial clay soil. The vineyard is planted mainly with Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah, with some Carignan and Cinsault. The cellar is modern and immaculate. M. Jougla uses a pneumatic press and then ferments his wines at a temperature of 28C, the cuvaison lasting between 15 and 20 days, using a combination of both cement and stainless steel tanks.
