Corinne and Jean-Pierre Grossot are the third generation of winemakers from this family owned domaine, where they cultivate 13 hectres of Chablis Appellation Controlée vineyards. The grapes are hand harvested, gently pressed to achieve the fullest extraction of flavors and aromas. The juice ferments very slowly at low, controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. After a first racking, the new wines age in stainless steel only, which is traditional for Chablis. Finally the bottling takes place 1 year after the harvest. This Chablis comes from the south facing portion vineyard where the grapes receive the greatest heat from the sun and hence the wines name Fourneaux or Oven. The wine offers ripe nearly tropical fruit flavors laced with mineral, oak, honey, and good mouth feel. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron 1er Cru Chambolle-Musigny
Description: Alain Meunier and his wife, Sophie own this 7 hectare vineyard estate based at Premaux-Prissey, south of Nuits, additionally they have vineyard holdings in many parts of the Cotes de Nuits. Attention to detail and a passion for their work has produced wines with an exciting and enviable reputation. The grapes are grown organically and, to maximise the fruit, all the grapes are de-stemmed before vinification. These are powerful, rich wines that are bottled early to protect their intense, concentrated fruit. The wines are only racked before bottling, so there is 15-18 months of extended lees contact. The grand crus are aged in 100% new French oak, and the premier crus in 80%. This wine is a great reflection of the region with plenty of depth, structure and black fruit flavours. The blackberry and plum aromas follow through onto the palate with soft silky tannins and a great finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Domaine Jean Pillot MORGEOT 1er Cru Chassagne Montrachet
Description: Jean-Marc Pillot has recently taken over from his father, Jean, at the family owned domaine. While able to draw on the experience and advice of his father he has made changes to the estate, including a new cave, that have propelled the domaine up the league of premiere producers of wine in Burgundy. Equally capable of producing great white or red wine the style is always intensely fruity, graceful, and precise. With white wines dominating the 10 hectare domaine the vineyard holdings are spread throughout the village of Chassagne with subsidiary parcels in Puligny, Santenay, and Remigny . The vines in most parcels are between 25 and 50 years old. Traditional viticultural practices are used in the vineyards where, Cordon de Royat and Guyot Simple pruning and training systems are employed. The whites are fermented 12 to 18 months in barrel, never using no more than 25% new wood so as not to overwhelm the intensity of fruit and sense of terroir specific to each wine. Bâtonnage is practiced to enrich the whites but is not exaggerated while the wines are manipulated as little as possible and are bottled unfiltered to preserve their purity. This 1er Cru wine comes from a vineyard below Ruchottes with a great clay and chalk terrior that is reflected in this lovely Chardonnay. The 2001 vintage is a big powerful wine with lots of presence on the palate; a big bold wine with a brisk acidity to the finish that lends elegance & class to this enjoyable wine. (6 x 75 cl)

Jean-Marc Brocard JURASSIQUE Chardonnay Bourgogne AC
Description: The Bourgogne Jurassique comes from a blend of different parcels whose the soils are dated from the upper Jurassic geological era. Within the three Geological Chardonnays, the Jurassique is the more classic and balanced. The wine produced on these soils displays subtle mineral characteristics while it is dry, lemony and fresh in style with good acidity and fruity finish it is a wine made to be drunk young. Jean-Marc Brocard's origins lie in the Cote d'Or. For he is a farmer's son from the village of Chaudenay-le-Chateau, not even the son of the vigneron. It was an accident of marriage that brought him to wine, he married Claudine , a vigneron's daughter from the village of St-Bris-le-Vineux in the valley of Yonne. Starting with a hectare of vines from his father-in-law, Emile Petit, he has created an estate of some 120 hectares vineyards in Chablis and Burgundy today. Jean-Marc acknowledges a considerable debt to one of the old vignerons of St-Cyr les Colons, a man Louis Petit, who despite the name is unrelated to his father-in-law. The oldest vines of the Domaine Sainte Claire came from Louis Petit and it was he who gave to Jean-Marc the sense of tradition and a respect for nature, showing him that you can still maintain the old traditions, while practicing modern methods.
