Louis Bernard Hermitage AC
Description: This appellation has 2,965 acres under cultivation, making it the largest producer of wine in the northern Rhone. It is spread over 11 villages in a triangle formation around the town of Tain l'Hermitage. Approximately 90% of Crozes-Hermitage is red, made exclusively from Syrah grapes. Although similar in style to the well-known neighboring Hermitage wines, this appellation has a unique flavor that can be attribuated to the soil. Whereas in the north the soil is typified by granite, the soil here tends to be clay covered with stones that help drainage and retain heat, helping the grapes to ripen with the heat they reflect. A wine full of robust flavors packed with berries and a nose of red fruits, leather and spices. The Crozes-Hermitage Louis Bernard exemplifies this style, with roundness in tannins that make it a wonderful wine. (6 x 75 cl)

Caves Des Clairmonts Rouge Crozes-Hermitage AC
Description: The Caves des Clairmonts is a small cooperative of 10 members with vineyard holdings based over 5 communes in the south east corner of the Crozes Hermitage appellation. They own 100 ha of Crozes vineyards and 8.5 hectares outside the delimited region which is designated Vins de Pays de la Drome. Crozes Hermitage is the largest of the northern Rhone appellations and this wine is sourced from complimenting vineyard sites. Harvested seperately, the small, individual parcels are vinified in steel then aged in old barrels before blending and bottling. A complex nose of spice and savoury bacon aromas mingled with a dark fruit character, leads into a rich palate with depth and a touch of coffee and chocolate on the finish. A fine structure lends a finesse and elegance to the wine. (6 x 75 cl)

Ferraton Pere et Fils LES DIONNIERES Ermitage AC
Description: The son of a wine producer and a wine producer himself, Jean Ferraton founded his own vineyard in 1946 in the Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage appellations together with his father-in-law, Jean Reverdy. He passed on his passion to his son, Michel who developed the estate by extending the vineyards and adding the current premises in Tain L'Hermitage. In 1994 his son, Samuel Ferraton took over and has continued the family's art of wine-making, preserving the knowledge and learning that have been handed down to him. The Syrah grapes are selected from 30 years old vines and once in the winery barrel ageing occurs between 14 and 18 months depending on the vintage to produce a most peppery, herbaceous and fragrant style. Although closed as well as austere in the finish, the complex nose of black fruits, earth, dried herbs, pepper and minerals is followed by a medium-bodied, tightly-knit wine with high tannin and plenty of structure. (6 x 75 cl)

Ferraton Pere et Fils LE REVERDY Blanc Ermitage AC
Description: The son of a wine producer and a wine producer himself, Jean Ferraton founded his own vineyard in 1946 in the Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage appellations together with his father-in-law, Jean Reverdy. He passed on his passion to his son, Michel who developed the estate by extending the vineyards and adding the current premises in Tain L'Hermitage. In 1994 his son, Samuel Ferraton took over and has continued the family's art of wine-making, preserving the knowledge and learning that have been handed down to him. All the grapes use in making this wine come from a single vineyard and have produced a lovely pale yellow coloured white wine from Ermitage . 'Le Reverdy is a 100% Marsanne cuvee displaying notes of fino sherry, nuts, white flowers, and minerals. Smoky and deep, with plenty of body and a formidably structured personality, it should drink well for a decade.' Robert Parker (6 x 75 cl)

Cave de Tain CLASSIC Hermitage Rouge AC
Description: Cave de Tain was founded in 1933 by 100 winegrowers from the district of Tain l'Hermitage. Its first president Louis Gambert de Loche was a land owner and a great humanist, from whom the Cave de Tain purchased the Hermitage vineyards. The activity of the winery was extended to include the wines of the right bank of the Rhône when growers from the Saint Joseph appellation decided to join. The range was further strengthened when growers from Cornas and Saint Peray added their wines in 1947. More recently, in 1986, the Cave de Tain l'Hermitage merged with the Cave de Saint Donat, adding high qualtiy vins de pays to the range, particularly Syrah and Marsanne varietals. Today the Cave de Tain l'Hermitage has 390 grower-members and a total vineyard area of 1.200 ha, of which 985 ha are A.O.C. wines. At the foot of the famous Hermitage hillside, the Cave de Tain l'Hermitage produces and sells five appellation controlee wines. The objective of the Cave is to provide wine lovers around the world with authentic wines which bear the full character of their individual 'terroir', bringing out the best through careful and non-intrusive vinification methods. Deep red coloured wine it has a huge concentration of ripe blackberry, cassis on the nose as well as a hint of vanilla and spices. A very complex wine it is both Silky and full-bodied while the tannins are markedly present leading to an enjoyable finish. (6 x 75 cl)
