The grapes for all of Cuilleron's Condrieu's are harvested by hand, and when you see the precipitous slopes of the appellation you can see why. All the wines are fermented in French oak barrels. A portion of the wine is then aged in oak while the remainder is transferred to tank to await the blending. This Viognier has pineapple and hay aromas with some by floral and herbaceous nuances. Vinified dry from grapes harvested in September and October, Cuilleron vinifies his various vineyard parcels separately, then puts together his wines in the weeks before the bottling. Wonderfully opulent and perfumed on the nose with dollops of honey allied to blossom and spicy complexity. The palate is rich and full again with great acidity, giving the wine exceptional balance.
