Description: Since the launch in 2000, Sula Vineyards have quickly gained the reputation of being India’s leading producer of premium New World-style wines. Grown on the hills of the Dindori estate and aged for a year in new oak, this Reserve Shiraz is fragrant, elegant and smooth with lush berry flavours and silky tannins. Situated 180 km northeast of Mumbai, Nashik is India’s largest grape-growing region, but had traditionally never been used to grow wine grapes. Wondering why, an enterprising, Stanford-trained engineer named Rajeev Samant quit his hi-tech Silicon Valley job in 1993 to do some investigating. A little research quickly showed that the Nashik climate was not only perfect for wine grapes, but was also on par with winegrowing regions in Spain, California, and Australia. His determination doubled, Rajeev returned to California in search of a winemaker. In Sonoma County he found Kerry Damskey, an eminent Californian winemaker, who enthusiastically agreed to help start a winery on Rajeev’s 30 acre family estate and so the story began. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Founded by pioneer Thomas Hardy in 1876, Hardys Tintara is nestled in the heart of McLaren Vale, South Australia. Tintara skilfully embraces the best of new-age winemaking while still retaining and using much of the original equipment and winemaking methods of the past. The Hardys Tintara Reserve range is made from premium fruit sourced from vineyards in the best sub-regions of McLaren Vale South Australia. These wines have been hand crafted, enhancing their fine quality, intensity and true varietal expression. They owe much to the past, but their appeal belongs exclusively to today. Tintara wines are aimed to be the purest expression of what the McLaren Vale wine region can produce. An historic area best known for Shiraz and Grenache. This fruit when combined with ancient small batch concrete open fermenters and basket pressing along with the use of specific French coopers matched to each vineyard, results in individual wines with great depth and style. Deep red with purple hues, the Tintara Shiraz shows a rich concentration of black cherry and blueberry with chocolate and cinnamon aromas. This richly textured, elegant wine is full bodied, and shows ripe concentrated fruit flavours of black fruit, dark chocolate with an earthy/spicy complexity. The palate has firm but evenly distributed spice and tannin, and the rolling concentrated mouthful leads to a bright and persistent finish.

Description: An intensely concentrated wine, the Reserve Yellow Tail Shiraz initially reveals aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries, chocolate and mocha. Delving deeper into this complex wine, cracked pepper and spice fragrance are apparent with sweet French oak aromas always present. The vanilla softness on the nose takes you into a full palate crammed with ripe fruits reminiscent of a basket of sweet summer berries. Seamless and well structured tannins complete this full bodied red wine. This Italian family have six generations of winemaking experience, while the Casella family winery was founded in 1965. Today it is run by John Casella, an extremely talented and highly respected winemaker who aims to produce top qualitv wines from this region. John Casella was amongst the first to select premium vineyard sites used for the production of premium varieties and the vineyards now extend to 250 hectares. The vineyard is planted with Semilion, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Botrytis Semilion, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Gewurztraminer, Colombard, Marsanne, Verdelho and Durif. Casella have made tremendous advances in viticultural techniques, particularly with canopy training, minimal pruning and controlled drip irrigation. These factors, coupled with restricted yields has enabled Casella to produce some of the top wines from this region.
