The region of Valle d'Aosta has an ancient history of winemaking, even though the steep mountain slopes and harsh, cold climate might suggest otherwise. Historically however, wine production from the region was confined to individual 'backyard vineyards' of usually no more than 2,500 square meters. In 1983, thanks in part to the efforts of the region's local government, these efforts were officially acknowledged and the Cooperative estate, Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle, was born. This cooperative took control of its newly built winery, well-equipped with all the technology needed to produce high-quality fine wines and began producing the region's traditional wine varieties. The local growers of the co-op are for the most part retired persons who tend their vines as they would a garden, following specific guidelines set up by the cooperative itself. Today the Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle produces over 140,000 bottles annually of 5 different traditional Valle D'Aosta wines. This unfailing commitment to the Valle D'Aosta wine-making has literally saved the region's history and culture from extinction, making these beautiful wines, and a part of Valle D'Aosta's culture. Domaine du Tariquet Ugni Blanc/Colombard Vins de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne
Description: The Ugni Blanc/Colombard blend is fresh and zesty, with bags of melon and peach fruit and incredible finish. For the past 20 years the Grassa family have been putting Vin de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne on the viticultural map and have established a worldwide reputation for their various Domaines, from Gold medal after Gold medal in international competitions to the world's leading wine writers citing Yves Grassa as one of the world's most dynamic and innovative winemakers. Indeed, back in 1989 the Domaine du Tariquet Ugni Blanc/Colombard won White Wine of the Year at the International Wine Challenge. Domaine Tariquet is the property where Yves Grassa lives on the family estate and it is here that he tends his most precious vines. The style of winemaking is always one of freshness, elegance and finesse and the Domaine Tariquet range is no exception. Yves is passionate about his winemaking and as a perfectionist is constantly looking at ways of improving what most people agree is a faultless operation, even to the point that he sleeps on a camp bed between the vats during vinification, just in case a minor adjustment needs to be made to the temperature! Chateau de Campuget CUVEE PRESTIGE Blanc Viognier Vin de Pays du Gard
Description: Chateau de Campuget, which belongs to the Dalle family since 1941, is producing great A.O.C. Costieres de Nimes wines. The vineyard of 160 hectares is situated in the heart of the A.O.C. area, between Nimes and Arles, a few kilometres from the right side of the Rhone river. The main characteristic of the 'terroir' is its soil , formed by an accumulation of round stones that had been rolled by many overflows of the Rhone river during the quaternary era. It allows the grapevines to establish their roots deep enough to find the water they need for growing. At the same time they profit of the sunny Mediterranean climate, essential for the good maturation of the grapes. Although equipped with stainless-steel tanks and modern tools, Chateau Campuget wines are made and matured in a traditional way. From its own bottling-line to the air-conditioned warehouse, it can control the quality of the wines from the vineyard to the bottle. Delicious peach and apricot with good freshness and a long finish. (6 x 75 cl)
