Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio Fruili Venezia Giulia
Description: Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio is light straw in colour with coppery highlights reflecting the brief period of skin contact. It is full and open on the nose, with perfumes of orange blossom and wild roses. On the palate it has good depth, with tight, restrained flavours of peach and apricot, liquorice and white pepper. It finishes long, dry, clean and fresh. The Pinot Grigio grapes were de-stemmed, without crushing the berries, and then macerated briefly on the skins before a gentle pressing. Fermentation took place between 17-19° C in temperature controlled tanks. Recently revitalised by Livio’s four children , the estate is now well on the way to reclaiming its rightful place among the great producers in Italy. The energy injected into the estate by the younger generation has been harnessed by consultant viticulturalist/winemaker Stefano Chioccioli. As a result of their combined work, the whites have acquired more intense and focused flavours, while the reds have a ripeness and suppleness that is seldom achieved in Friuli. (6 x 75 cl)

Luna Vineyards Barrel Fermented Pinot Grigio Napa County California
Description: In 1995, two seasoned wine veterans shared a vision for a distinctive Napa Valley winery that would produce wines in the artisan fashion of the Old World Masters. George Vare and Mike Moone were major influencers in the industry when they decided to launch Luna Vineyards. Together, they selected a prime piece of property at the southernmost end of the Silverado Trail and set about to transform it into a landmark winery. President Mary Ann Tsai heads a dedicated team in crafting Napa Valley wines of intricate character and exquisite taste, using techniques such as co-fermentation and natural yeasts to achieve distinctive results. Luna has achieved critical acclaim and is quickly becoming known for producing wines whose timeless attributes evoke a lifestyle of refined taste and sophistication. Reminiscent of the finest Pinot Grigios of France and Italy, the 2004 Luna Pinot Grigio is a delicate wine with beautiful natural acidity. The winemaking team worked closely with small vineyards in Napa ensuring our high standards are met from vineyards inCarneros, Napa, and other cool areas in Northern California. After 7 months in barrel the wine is showing a delicate balance of fig, peach, rose petals and ripe melon on the nose. The mouth has heady minerality with obvious toasted bread with layers of spices of cinnamon and nutmeg. The use of the French Oak is apparent in its ability to hold the wine up without overpowering the delicateness of the wine. The finish folds seamlessly into persistent fig and wet stone. (12 x 75 cl)

Vie di Romans DESSIMIS Pinot Grigio Isonzo
Description: The 100% barrel fermented ‘Dessimis’ Pinot Grigio, produced from one of Gianfranco Gallo’s top vineyards, is full-bodied and intense, with a smoky richness and the nutty finish characteristic of top Pinot Grigio. Gallo uses only used large barrels for the Pinot Grigio to ensure the oakiness does not smother the delicacy of the fruit. Gianfranco Gallo is a perfectionist. Not for him the unoaked, over-sweetened simplicity of many white wines from Friuli; he is more interested in richness, texture, length, complexity and the ability to age. For this reason, he releases his white wines 18 months after the vintage. (6 x 75 cl)

Masi MASIANCO Pinot Grigio Verduzzo delle Venezie IGT
Description: Masi is well-known for its specialization in the production of red wines from the appassimento and double fermentation processes. For the production of Masianco, Verduzzo grapes are ripened further after picking; this unusual process for an elegant white wine makes for more roundness, body and richness, characteristics which complement the fine aromas and the elegant fruity notes of Pinot Grigio. The finely judged blend between the two native grape varieties and the particular winemaking technique contribute to the creation of a modern wine with a strong Venetian personality, a “Supervenetian” wine of unmistakable Masi style, like the well-known Campofiorin red. The two grape varieties are harvested at their optimal ripening time and vinified separately. Pinot Grigio grapes are harvested at the end of August and vinified immediately in order to enhance freshness and aromas. Verduzzo grapes are harvested at the end of September, then further ripened on racks for three weeks. This is a process particularly suitable to this varietal because of its thick skin and it makes for a better concentration of fruit. The Pinot Grigio is fermented at a low temperature and the malolactic fermentation is arrested before completion. The Verduzzo undergoes a short maceration at low temperature before fermentation in barrique where it also completes the malolactic fermentation. The two wines are blended before bottling. Bellanotte CONTE LUCIO Pinot Grigio Venezia Giulia IGT
Description: Bellanotte is an eight-hectare farm in the variegated terroirs of the Isonzo valley and Collio hills. The soil is mainly calcareous with the presence of red gravels and a layer of ferrous stone. The harvest is manual with careful bunch selection while in the winery a pre-fermentation cold maceration helps to extract the aromatic components of the grapes and an extended period in contact with the lees lends the wine its eventual softness and equilibrium. This is the true ramato Pinot Grigio with a light amber colour and a pearly sheen in the glass. The nose suggests hay, elderflower and tea rose, followed by red apple, with light tones of dried fruits and almonds. The fine acidity gives the wine sapidity and persistence. (6 x 75 cl)

Seghesio Family Vineyards Pinot Grigio Sonoma County California
Description: The grapes were sourced from the Keyhole Ranch in Russian River Valley and Cortina Ranch in Dry Creek Valley. Here 75% of the wine is fermented in stainless steel vat, and 25% in barrel in seasoned French oak with the lees stirred to add depth and complexity to produce a wine of great character. This varitals floral and spicy aromas give way to ripe apple and stone fruit flavours. Texture is amplified by the employment of partial barrel and malolactic fermentation, creating a depth and roundness of palate. Dr. Phil Freese, the vineyard consultant, first suggested the suitability of particular vineyards to growing Pinot Grigio. The cooler regions of Sonoma County, principally the Dry Creek and Russian River Valley vineyards, are ideal for this varietal. Here, the well-drained soils and foggy mornings of marine influenced vineyards forge the perfect partnership between land and vine. These climates allow the slow maturation of fruit to fully express varietal character while retaining natural acidity. The Russian River Valley is also home to some of the world's great Pinot Noir (12 x 75 cl)
