Yalumba HAND PICKED Tri-Centenary Vines Grenache Barossa
Description: Grown on bush vines originally planted in the Barossa Valley in 1889, the vine age spans three centuries. These vines continue to endure, producing remarkable wines of great structure with tremendous depth of flavour. W I N E S T Y L E The fruit for the Yalumba Handpicked Tri-centenary Grenache is sourced from a single vineyard in the Barossa Valley, affectionately known as 'The Nursery' block. This vineyard has old bush vines that were planted in 1889, making it some of the oldest Grenache vines in Australia. The grapes from these low-yielding vines are intense and powerful, providing a wonderful resource to make a rare and brilliant Grenache such as this. The2000 Yalumba Handpicked Tri-centenary Vines Grenache is deep cherry red in colour with purple hues and has a complex and earthy nose with black cherries, liquorice, spice and white pepper. The palate is soft, velvety and wonderfully structured and displays mouth-filling layers of ripe black fruits and pepper. Fine tannins complement the long and warm finish of this stunning wine. Seghesio Family Vineyards OLD VINES Zinfandel Sonoma County California
Description: The Old Vine Zinfandel is deliciously dark-fruited and savoury-spiced. Deep ruby in colour, this wine combines spicy, lush black fruit from Alexander Valley with cooler Dry Creek Valley fruit that offers structure and Zinfandel’s classic briary and raspberry flavours. Full-bodied dark berry fruits are supported by silky oak tannins, layers of concentrated flavours and a long, spicy finish. In 1895, Edoardo Seghesio planted his first vineyard in America to Zinfandel. Today, four generations of grape growers later, half of the Seghesio family's 400 acres of vineyard are planted with Zinfandel. While the American government controls most wine labelling, they have no classification for "Old Vines." The Seghesio family’s benchmark is 60 years old and older, while the average age of the vines used for the ‘Old Vines’ Zinfandel is 90 years old. (12 x 75 cl)

Cellers de la Cartoixa MONTGARNATX Costers de Vilella Priorat DO
Description: Nowhere is Spain's vinous renaissance more apparent than in the tiny DOC of Priorat, close to Tarragona and Barcelona. High up in the hills around the town of Falset, lies one of the most geographically spectacular regions in Spain. Vertiginous vineyards that you actually need a ladder to climb, vines sticking out at right angles from 'soil' consisting of nothing but slate and shale and old, old vines contribute to very low yields and ultra concentrated wines. Priorat's explosion onto the world wine scene is a sure testament to the amazing naturally occurring growing conditions found there. This wine is a blend of Garnacha 70% and Carinena 30% from 15 year old vines and has spent 8 months in french oak barrels. A lively blend it is medium to full bodied with bright, spicy, juicy fruit character and succulent texture. It's immensely well balanced and is a great example of modern priorat wine. (12 x 75 cl)
