The vineyards cover an area of 100 hectares, approximately 35% of the whole estate. The exposure is east, south-east and the soil type is composed prevalently of Galestro with small components of mud and clay, only a minor part of it has a relevant presence of eocenic sands. This red wine has been produced since 1892 and has won many awards. It is made with 100% Sangiovese grapes from Fattoria dei Barbi's best vineyards in Montalcino. The wine is aged for three years in oak barrels followed by a further 12 months in the bottle. The 1995 vintage is a deep red colour wine with a bright nose full of flowery notes. Good Tannic structure and acidity are evident as is the fruit that provides good balance culminating in a great finish.
