Description: This Flaccianello was carefully selected by Giovanni Manetti. This careful selection comes through in the wine, which has a good depth of youthful ruby colour with perfumes of spiced cherry and vanilla. Flavours of spiced black cherry and toasty new oak abound on the palate, supported by characteristically ripe, but well balanced tannins. It is an intense wine, right through to the lingering finish. Description: This Chianti Classico from Fontodi is wonderfully aromatic, with perfumes of fresh cherries and blackberries, giving way to light, supple tannins and lovely balance on the palate. The difficult vintage meant that Giovanni Manetti and Franco Bernabei made less Flaccianello and Vigna del Sorbo than usual, so much of this year’s Chianti Classico is in fact declassified Flaccianello. As a result, although a more forward and approachable wine than the 2004, it still has the characteristic intensity and elegance of the Fontodi range. Few properties in Tuscany are as immaculately tended, or produce such meticulously made wines, as Fontodi. The Manetti family has owned the estate since 1968 and has worked with winemaker Franco Bernabei since 1979. All the fermentation tanks are equipped for pneumatic punching down of the cap and the increase in colour, extraction and flavour of the resulting wines is remarkable. (12 x 37.5 cl) Price: £106.89

Description: Vigna del Sorbo is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has good depth of colour and an intense, cherry and strawberry nose, with a touch of cassis from the Cabernet Sauvignon which tempers the characteristic acidity of the Sangiovese and softens the structure.
