Description:
The names of the A Crux and B Crux wines are based on the stars of the Southern Cross. This constellation is only visible in the Austral Hemisphere. The characterisation of the ostrich on the label symbolises the joining of the earth and the sky. The Argentinean Mocovi Indians captured this through paintings in the caves they inhabited and through different legends that were passed from generation to generation. After selecting the barrels individually, Bodega y Viñedos O. Fournier will offer its best wine under the A Crux label. This wine will have spent approximately 18 months in new oak barrels and 12 months in bottles. The second wine,B Crux, will age in oak barrels, 50 per cent new and 50 per cent second year, for 12 months and in bottles for a minimum of six months. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: 12 to 20 hours of maceration before pressing in order to obtain colour. Pneumatic pressing. Static racking of the must. Electronic thermo-regulated fermentation in stainless steel tanks for a period of 3 weeks. No malolactic fermentation. Maturation on fine lees. Situated in the small village of Verdigny in the Sancerre region, the Fournier family has been growing wine for many generations. The estate has grown from 5 hectares in 1950 to almost 30 hectares today, divided over the appellations of Menetou Salon, Pouilly-Fume and Sancerre. The improvements made in vinification techniques and the concern over quality result in well-bound wines of great diversity. Colour: brilliant, sustained salmon pink. Nose: discreet, recalling ripe cherry and a slight note of toast. Palate: fresh and crisp, with an after taste of lemon and butter aromas. Serve between 10-12û C with oriental dishes. Description: At the turn of the millenium the Spanish family Ortega Gil-Fournier founded a small 'boutique' winery at the foot of the Andes, in La Consulta, in the Argentinean province of Mendoza. Bodega y Vinedos O Fournier aims to build a winery equipped with the latest technology. It will have a capacity of 600,000 litres in stainless steel, oak and cement vats, ranging from 6,500 to 25,000 litres in capacity. The new winery has been designed to work with gravity to minimise the use of pumps. The underground cellar will be able to hold up to 2,800 oak barrels at a constant temperature and humidity. In light of the company's commitment to continously improve its wines, it has plans for developing an innovative laboratory with microvinification capabilities. A small hotel and restaurant will also be built near the winery to accomodate visitors. The grapes are picked manually, by the company's own workers, and placed in 18-kg. boxes, allowing the Bodega to control the quality of the grapes right from the vineyard. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £124.92
