Croft 2000 VintagePort Description: VintagePorts are made exclusively from the grapes of one harvest. Bottled after two years in casks, it is in the bottle that the long, slow, ageing process transforms the young wine into a magnificent VintagePort. A Croft Vintage is only declared in years of optimum quality. These demanding standards mean that a Croft Vintage might be declared perhaps only two or three times in a decade. A round and soft Port, with lots of sweet berry and plummy fruit, verging on jam. Full-bodied and round, with a long, sweet finish (12 x 75 cl) Price: £613.88

W & J Graham's 1991 VintagePort Description: The Graham family entered the Port trade in 1820, when William and John Graham, manning the Douro office, accepted a consignment of Port as settlement of a bad debt. The Port was sent on to their main offices in Glasgow, Scotland, where it proved very popular, and the seed had been sown. After the harvest, wines of Vintage potential are put into oak barrels called 'pipes'. Some eighteen months later a careful and painstaking series of tastings is held to judge exactly which wines of different vineyards merit inclusion in the final blend. If the ideal blend is achieved, the wine is then bottled without any filtration whatsoever approximately 24 months after the original harvest. Graham's VintagePorts are the epitome of richness and concentration, and the 1994 vintage is a red full Bodied and Sweet port.
