Description: Our aim is to build in complexity to complement our natural exuberant fruit. Techniques such as pre and post maceration are combined with partial barrel fermentation to achieve this in the winery. The wine is filtered but not stabilised and was bottled at pH3.4, T.A. 6.6g/l and 13% alcohol. The philosophy behind Grove Mill wines is that they are made to be the best they can be. Deliberate fruit orientation with a full bodied richness and concentration to the point of balance defined the style. Determining vineyards, selecting their fruit at harvest and keeping only the wines with the best structure, flavours and fragrances ensures the Grove Mill philosophy is exercised. Pinot Noir has become the dominant red grape variety in Marlborough, new Zealand's largest grape growing region. The Pinot Noir we grow here has abundant flavour, texture and colour. Description: The 2002 vintage marks the sixteenth year of producing of our Riverstone Chardonnay, produced from our vineyards in the Arroyo Seco region in Monterey County. Each year, starting in 1995, J Lohr have incorporated higher percentages of traditional Burgundian production techniques into Riverstone, until the desired complexity was achieved . This includes more malo-lactic fermentation and sur lie ageing with lees stirring, which in turn creates a wine of greater complexity and nuance. The vines are grown primarily on Elder loam soils underlain by riverstones deposited over thousands of years from the Arroyo Seco river, allowing a four foot rooting zone that keeps the vine's vegetative growth and fruit in balance. Additionally, the cool climate and winds of the Salinas Valley extend the growing season and retain the natural grape acids and intense varietal character of the Chardonnay. The vintage of 2002 returned to a more typical growing season (12 x 37.5 cl)

Description: Wine Description Deep purple crimson in colour. A sweet ripe spicy bouquet of raspberries, plums blackberries and anise with hints of mace, nutmeg and tar. A fleshy concentrated palate of sweet ripe black berry fruits with lush velvety mature tannins and a long finish. Grape Variety 65% grenache, 22% mourvèdre and 13% shiraz grapes from selected vineyards growing in the Barossa Valley. Background Named as a tribute to the early Barossa Lutheran pioneers, many of whom carried the nameJohann as their first name. Their toil, perseverance and conservatism in hardship has meant that the many generations that followed rejoiced in the riches of their prudent efforts. The grenache is just one of those blessings and has been appropriately named after Johann Alfred Zobel, whose 65-year-old vines, growing on the banks of the North Para, form the base of this wine. Barossa growers traditionally referred to their vineyard as their 'garden'. The traditions and culture have survived to this day including the winemaking techniques used in this grenache blend. Walking our vineyards in the Arroyo Seco in early September 2003 brought back memories of 1989. It was cold, very foggy and damp, with Chardonnay grape sugars running well behind normal. Description: The vineyard of 'Les Garans' is situated to the north-east of the village of Fleurie and is acknowledged as one of the finest sites for growing top quality grapes because of its combination of unique soil composition and specific microclimate. Maison Louis Latour has exclusive rights over this vineyard and as a further guarantee, limits the yield to produce the best grapes possible. Remaining loyal to the traditional techniques of the region, the vinification process requires the grapes to be fermented in whole clusters under a blanket of carbon dioxide optimising the freshness of the fruit. The wine is deliciously floral on the nose and possesses great smoothness on the palate with a wonderful balancing acidity. It is best enjoyed after a year or so in bottle.
