Laroche ROSE de la CHEVALIERE Syrah Grenache Merlot Vin de Pays d'Oc
Description: Tasting Note A gentle, dry rose with subtle raspberry and cherry aromas. The palate is bright and fresh with the fruit balanced perfectly by the crisp acidity in the finish. An impressive, restrained wine with real character. 12% Slightly darker than the pale barely-there rosés from Provencal but lighter on its feet than most New World pinks, Laroche's Rose de la Chevaliere is on superb form in 2006. A blend of Merlot, Grenache and Syrah sourced from across the Languedoc it is just waiting for winter to admit it has lost its bite and usher in really warm weather. In the meantime, it makes a fantastic partner for everything from charcuterie to seafood. A bit about Laroche Chablis producer Laroche have been champions of the South of France for over a decade, since they acquired Mas de Chevalier, near Beziers in 1995. Top winemaker Richard Lavanoux is now the in charge of the cellars and is really beginning to realise the region's potential for making great wines. Richard's focus is on producing modern, terroir-driven wines bottled under screwcap for maximum freshness and longevity. (12 x 75 cl)

Trinity Hill TRINITY Merlot Cabernets Syrah Merlot Cabernet Hawke's Bay NZ
Description: The musts from each grape variety, 44% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Franc, 12% Syrah and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, are prepared separately, and blended after 12 months ageing in French oak. The result is a complex, fruit dominant wine, with many nuances on both the nose and palate. The blackberry and black pepper nuances of Syrah, the leather and plum aromas of Merlot, the aromatic spice and red currant character of Cabernet Franc plus the cassis and spine from Cabernet Sauvignon, have combined to produce a complex, fruit dominant wine. The sensitive oak ageing has added a further dimension to the wine without being obvious. Richness and soft, ripe tannins make this wine a serious yet eminently drinkable wine. (12 x 75 cl)
