Domaines Schlumberger CUVEE CHRISTINE Gewurztraminer Vendage Tardives Alsace
Description: Cuvee Christine is vigorous, powerful, balanced, and has beautiful structure. It is very subtle and elegant. A tempting, fresh and sometimes soft wine, it ages well and keeps its floral aroma. This Late Harvest wine is made from overripe grapes, collected several weeks after the harvest. Unlike other sweet wines, it keeps its freshness and natural acidity, with a flavor unparallel to that of any other. Jewels of Domaines Schlumberger, the grapes for Cuvée Christine are harvested in the beginning of winter, in carefully selected portions. This very delicate wine comes from old vines and is made only in the especially good years. This wine exhibits charm and infinite softness with many nuances. The intense and refined nose evolves to exotic fruit notes of papaya and mango. On the palate, the attack is soft and silky. The consistently elegant structure is slightly spicy, characterized by exotic notes and strong sugared citrus fruit peels. The finish is round, and balanced. Natural sugars amplify the incredible finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Hugel et Fils SELECTION DE GRAINS NOBLES Gewurztraminer Alsace
Description: Available in Half bottles, the first vintage of the famous 1988-1989-1990 trology. The extremely favourable meteorological conditions, in particular at the end of the season, gave bunches that were perfectly healthy, exceptionally ripe, with good levels of acidity. Thanks to an long Summer, Hugel interrupted picking from 7th October until 7th November, with extraordinary results. Noble rot that developed during that period enabled Hugel to produce, for the first time since 1976, significant amounts of Selection De Grains Nobles wines. wines all come from the historic HUGEL family estates in the heart of the Grand Cru Sporen slope. As for the rest of our production, our grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. The grapes are taken in small tubs to the presses, which are filled by gravity, without any pumping or other mechanical intervention. After pressing, the must is decanted for a few hours, then fermented in temperature-controlled barrels or vats . The wine is racked just once, before natural clarification during the course of the winter. The following spring, the wine is lightly filtered just before bottling, and the bottles are then aged in our cellars until released for sale. Very intense yellow-gold colour, deep and rich. It has a complex, spicy bouquet of cinnamon, liquorice and roses. Soft, sweet , liqueur-like, very rich and harmonious. (12 x 37.5 cl)

Domaine Josmeyer LES ARCHENETS Prestige Selections Gewurztraminer Alsace
Description: The renowned house of Josmeyer was founded in 1854 in Wintzenheim and has been in unbroken family ownership for 5 generations. Grapes are sourced from there own 23 hectares of vineyards, which include some four hectares of the renowned Grands Crus Hengst and Brand. In addition Josmeyer have long term contracts for grapes from a further 12 hectares which are worked to the strict Josmeyer principles. The vines are pruned hard and yields are kept well below the average for Alsace. There is a minimal chemical treatment and grass is grown between the rows to restrict yields and encourage the roots deeper into the subsoil. The vineyards are currently being run under the Lutte Raisonnee scheme but the family have experimented siuccessfully with Biodynamie and are moving resolutely towards conversion of all their sources of grape supply to a fully biodynamic regime. All grapes are handpicked and then whole-bunch pressed prior to fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Only natural yeasts are employed and both chaptalization and malolactic fermentation are avoided so as to ensure that the natural balance of each wine is preserved and the vintage and vineyard differences are emphasised (12 x 75 cl)
