Briar Ridge Crop Thinned Verdelho Hunter Valley Australia
Description: The bunch thinning, where three bunches are discarded for every one kept, has worked to increase the intensity of the flavour. This is an approachable wine that is lively fresh and zingy with a touch of citrus drizzled over the varietal fruit salad flavours. This wine is a great example of a Verdelho, which is a much underrated variety than can be partnered with a wide variety of cuisine. Originally used to make fortified wines in Madeira, Australia has turned Verdelho into a World Class dry white table wine. A delicately fragrant wine with subtle fruit aromas and a light, dry finish. Briar Ridge Winery is located at the Southern tip of the Hunter Valley wine region in New South Wales, that’s only about two and a half hours north of Sydney. The winery has a beautiful aspect with the vines covering about 70 acres around the winery at Mount View. Winemaker Steve Dodd has 20 years of Hunter winemaking experience and this is expressed in the range of wines of intensive fruit flavour but refreshing lightness. The Semillon grape grown in the Hunter Valley produces a globally distinct wine and Briar Ridge has a great example that we are able to offer you, along with another white of fruity originality the crop-thinned verdelho. Briar Ridge is all about hand crafted quality wines; they clip nearly a third of the fruit bunches off the vines to ensure the rest develop the intense fruit flavours they are looking for.
