Typical expression of a well structured unique South African blend. Flavours of plum, cinnamon and cigarbox, followed by a lengthy palate. Groot Constantia Pinotage Constantia RSA
Description: Groot Constantia struggled to emulate the success of the other Constantia wineries, but for the past few years, quality has been on the up. Since 2001, the energetic Boela Gerber has been in charge of the cellars, and his success with this Pinotage augurs well for the future. This is a more robust and forward wine than the Scali, with some of the same berry spice flavours, but more of the classic Pinotage plum and banana edge. If you like fruit, drink it now; if you prefer something mellower, my suggestions is to give it four more years in bottle. (6 x 75 cl)

Kaapzicht Pinotage Stellenbosch RSA
Description: Bright, pinky red colour. Sweet aromas of raspberry and banana fruit topped with soft nutmeg and clove spiciness. Flavours deep and satisfying with fruit aplenty and a hint of coffee: reminiscent of biting into a ripe berry with the sweet juice oozing, coating the mouth and following this with a cup of coffee latte. The wine's good balance makes it a winner. In South Africa, Danie Steytier is considered one of the top two producers of Pinotage in the country. Danie's passion is to make top quality South African wine and his Pinotage is a shining example of just how good a wine the grape can make and has been known to win over even the hardest sceptics! The Steytier Pinotage continues to gather international awards closely followed in the merit tables by the Kaapzicht Pinotage. Danie is a well respected wine judge, a keen Two Oceans and Comrades Marathon participant and tennis player. Kaapzicht is situated up in the Bottelary Hills with magnificent views towards Table Mountain. The farm was first mentioned in 1712 and was purchased by the Steytier family in 1946. The 174 ha estate has 135 ha of vineyards planted on mainly north facing slopes. An ambitious planting programme is seeing the replacement of the Chenin vineyards with top quality red varieties while the old gnarled Pinotage Bush Vines are given tender care and attention. The ever modest, dedicated family team consists of Danie making the wine, his brother George the viticulturist and Danie's wife Yngvild responsible for sales and marketing. They all live on the farm with a menagerie of animals and an open house to friends and family. Success could not have come to nicer or more hard working people (6 x 75 cl)
