The soil has a large concentration of clay in the northern part, bordering of Petrus, and clay-gravel soil in the southern part, bordering on Chateau Cheval Blanc. Five generations of the Nicolas family have worked hard to maintain LaConseillante's excellent reputation over the past 126 years. Care is taken to keep yields low and produce perfectly ripe grapes, which are hand picked. Chateau LaConseillante is aged in 100% new oak barrels in great vintages. LaConseillante is full, round, velvety and creamy with all the voluptuous softness of Merlot combined with the finesse of Cabernet Franc, which also contributes a fruity bouquet with hints of truffle.
