Louis Latour Meursault AC
Description: Situated just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is the most extensive northerly white wine commune of the Côte-d'Or. The perfect south-easterly exposure and the stony, marl soil contribute greatly to the remarkable finesse of which the wines of Meursault are capable. Typical Meursaults tend to be very full, mellow wines and mature somewhat sooner than the wines from the neighbouring communes of Puligny and Chassagne. The wine is full in the mouth and well-structured showing exotic fruitiness and a nutty, spicy character. It can be drunk when young but patience is amply repaid. Yellow and gold in appearance with good concentration from this powerful Meursault which has aromas of apricot stones and toasted hazelnuts. A very attractive wine with a long, clean finish. Domaine Jean & Henri Boillot LES CHEVRETS 1er Cru Volnay Description: Henri Boillot, brother of Jean-Marc, is making some of the most exciting wines in Burgundy at the moment. He has his own family vineyards as well as a negociant business, Maison Henri Boillot based in Meursault. This results are evident in the stunning complexity, concentration and purity of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. Vallet Freres Meursault AC
Description: Generic Tasting Notes Meursault lies between the villages of Volnay and Puligny-Montrachet and produces some of the world's greatest white wines. Ours has rich green-gold colour and heady, lightly oaky but seductive nutty bouquet; the palate is pretty fat and buttery but cut with toasty hazlenut flavours and long mineral balance. Vinification One of a handful of producers in the Cote d'Or who continue to use ultra-traditional winemaking techniques. Grapes are selected from vines of a minimum 15 years of age; after pressing the juice is decanted then fermented in open wooden casks using only natural yeasts and no temperature control. The white wines are left on their lees for an extended period and put into French oak barrels, where they mature for a minimum of two years with racking off two or three times a year . They don't have a fancy bottling line here (6 x 75 cl) Price: £153.12
