Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 5eme Cru Classe Pauillac Description: This estate dates back to the 16th century with a chateau built partly in 1737 and partly in 1850. The epicurean Raymond Dupin ran Grand Puy Lacoste from 1932 to 1987 and bestowed an excellent reputation upon the wine. The Borie family have subsequently built on this so that it has risen above its cinquieme Cru classe status. Its facets usually include a rich polished, duly concentrated taste with noble tannins. It contains splendid fruit like blackcurrant and often cherry and plum plus restrained oak and vanilla notes with earthy, spicy elements. "Dark ruby-coloured with purple nuances, the supple, lush, fruity 1995 possesses medium body, light intensity new oak, soft tannin, and low acidity. Made in a clean, medium-bodied, user-friendly, accessible style, this wine will have many fans." Parker, 87. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £949.32

Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 5eme Cru Classe Pauillac Description: Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a 5ème Cru Classé Pauillac estate which has for many years been consistently outperforming its classification. Grand-Puy-Lacoste dates back as early as 1743 when it was known to be surrounded by a few rows of vines. lawyers and parliamentarians succeeded one another at the head of what was one of the first vineyards to be developed. In 1978, Raymond Dupin, who had a reputation of being one of Bordeaux's greatest gourmets, sold the Chateau to Jean-Eugene Borie, owner of Ducru-Beaucaillou. The Chateau has been run since then by Jean-Eugene's son Xavier. Xavier began a remodeling program which completely modernized the ancient and dilapidated cellars. The resurgence of Grand-Puy-Lacoste to the forefront of leading Pauillacs expected to take several years was immediately apparent with Xavier's first vintage at the Chateau. Traditional vinification is carried out in oak vats followed by aging in new or nearly new barrels for 18 to 20 months. Extremely concentrated, with sweet, black cherries, cassis and flinty overtones on the nose. The restrained yet powerful palate displays classic Pauillac 'grip' with ripe but firm tannins and attractive herbaceous hints supporting the pure, lush black fruit. Available in Original Wooden Case. Limited Availability. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £471.88
