Description:
Daumas Gassac is characterised by wines of strong personality, complexity of aromas and extraordinary vinous qualities. As such this has contributed to the success and worldwide recognition of Daumas Gassac, notwithstanding the absence of any appellation status. The unusual vinification of the white wine starts with a maceration for five to seven days followed by the fermentation in stainless steel vats for a further three weeks. The wine is then transfered to new wooden casks of the kind habitually used in Burgundy for four to eight weeks and is lightly filtered with an alluvionnaire filter before returning to the stainless steel vats. Finally, the wine is sterile filtered just prior to bottling. The unique marriage between three noble grape varieties results in a great wine with a perfect balance between purity and freshness, it fills the palate with magnificent, long fruity flavours sustained by a creamy texture. Drink during the first year for an appreciation of the explosive aromas of youthful fruit. While in the second year the fruit gives way to the secondary more subtle aromas which are less floral. After the third year the Chardonnay becomes prominent giving birth to yet another wine.

Paul Mas Marselan VindePays d'Oc
Description: Marselan is a unique cross breed of two grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache and once in the winery 20% of the wine will be aged for 5 months in barrel and the rest in vats before being blended, bottled and released. The result is an intense deep purple coloured wine with ruby tints. The complex and intense nose displays red berry jam, cinnamon, violet, and red pepper aromas with a hint of toasted oak and spicy vanilla notes. Well-balanced with a good backbone the subtle ripe tannins deliver through to the long finish that has liquorice notes. Marselan is a new variety of grape, which is not sensitive to botrytis, has small seeds and a heavy skin and pulp . The Marselan offers great potential for deep coloured, very aromatic wines, which are well structured and demonstrate strong character and good ageing potential. Les Domaines Paul Mas is a group of four family estates covering 100ha of vineyard on the hills bordering the Herault Valley in Languedoc in the south of France. They are near the Mediterranean sea, close to the small town of Pezenas. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £65.88
