Chateau Gruaud-Larose 2eme Cru Classe Saint Julien
Description: Dating back to 1725, the estate was grouped into a number of small vineyards and in 1757 Mr. Gruaud formed one large one, under his name. Eventually a descendant of the first owner took over the property, his name was Larose, and he immediately linked his name to the estate, it as subsequently purchased by Mr Desire Cordier in 1915. An attractive, strong red-brown colour, with hints varying from vermilion to reddish-orange that indicate a gradual development. The wonderfully fragrant sweet nose displays notes of berries, spices, coffee, and grilled and roasted scents. Initially supple but firm, full in the mouth, robust and highly structured. Very pleasant aromatic finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £1889.81

Chateau Pesquie QUINTESSENCE Blanc Rhone Valley Vineyards Ventoux
Description: Made with 80% Roussanne and 20% Clairette, this is a wine of great elegance, produced in very limited quantities. A brilliant white gold colour this wine has a complex nose comprising white flower perfumes, such as hawthorn, and more fruity aromas including mango, greenage and peche de vigne. Grilled almond and honey flavours and notes of blonde tobacco enhance this delicious bouquet while the mouth is ample and structured. With its richness and its natural freshness, white Quintessence is a well balanced wine with a strong aromatic intensity. The sleepy village of Mormoiron was certainly shaken up when the dynamic Chaudiere family bought Chateau Pesquie and set about making wine to a level that had never before been achieved in the Ventoux. Paul and Edith Chaudiere chose the name 'Quintessence' to highlight the superiority, concentration, and careful selection of both the oldest vines and the best vintages of production. Indeed, such a name implies extreme rigor and not every vintage produces a Quintessence wine. Paul Chaudiere is keen on technology, but also devoted to quality. He employs new methods to produce wines of simply stunning quality from his 72 hectares, with richness, colour and concentration that his neighbours can only dream of. Ambition seems to have been coupled perfectly with both an innate winemaking ability and a rare understanding of the market ensuring that this family domaine produces wines of great quality that people want to drink. 'One of the superstar estates of the Cotes-du-Ventoux', according to Robert Parker. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £194.23
