The wine displays its youth in the glass with vibrant purple hues. The nose is a wonderful collage of blackberry cassis fruits with earthy tones and elegant cedar-like oak. The palate is restrained compared to its brash, boisterous Shiraz brother. Lovely texture, ripe flavours and palate persistence are the hallmarks of this wine. This wine displays the essence of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2000 Leston Cabernet Sauvignon should reward patient enthusiasts with increased complexity over 8 or so years. (6 x 75 cl)

Arlewood Estate Semillon Margaret River Australia
Description: Arlewood Estate was established in 1988 in the Willyabrup Valley of the Margaret River wine region in Western Australia. The Gosatti family in partnership planted a small vineyard near Cowaramup in 1995, and acquired Arlewood Estate in 1999. In October 2005, The Gosatti Family completed an outright purchase of Arlewood to pursue the vision that is starting to crystalise with the release of some wines worthy of their situation. The total area under vine is 15 hectares and the plantings include 17 year old Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon vines; 11 year old Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Franc; 10 year old Chardonnay, along with newer plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. This wine is 100% Semillon from the Arlewood Wilyabrup vineyard and the hand picked fruit was assembled in the winery before 20% of the Semillon was fermented in new Saury French barriques. Post ferment all Semillon was transferred to a combination of new Taransaud and Francois Freres French barriques for 1 month. Finally the wine is transferred to 2 year old French barriques for 4 months. Stunning aromas with a rich and powerful style are reminiscent of a combination of citrus and rose as well as a smokey and nutty note. Big styled wine showing a seamless palate this is a complex wine, rounded with great length of flavour, it finishes long and tangy. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: Vasse Felix was the first commercial vineyard and winery to be established in the Margaret River region of Western Australia. The vineyard took its unusual name from an early event in the district. Vasse was a French seaman who drowned last century when his longboat overturned near the site of Busselton while exploring the coastline on the ship 'Geographe' under Captain Freycinet. Paradoxically, Felix is the Latin word for fortunate or luck. Thus the name refers to a favoured place in Australia discovered by the French. This wine displays a fine, deep crimson colour with royal purple hues. A complex aroma of mulberries, fruit jubes, bay leaf and dusty Cabernet is intertwined with spicy oak. The palate is soft and rich with fine emery-like tannins and a crisp tang reflecting itÕs cool climate origins. Flavours of stewed rhubarb and cranberries leave a lasting impression long after the last sip.

Cape Mentelle Cabernet Merlot Margaret River Western Australia
Description: Cape Mentelle Vineyards, established by David and Mark Hohnen and now part of the Moet Hennessy Wine Estates, is a specialist producer of premium wines in Margaret River in the south west corner of Western Australia. One of the country's finest wine regions, Margaret River enjoys a maritime location, with the added advantage of a long dry growing season. Cape Mentelle was one of the first vineyards established in the Margaret River region. First planted in 1970, there are today over 180 hectares under vine and the winery was constructed in 1977. Cape Mentelle Vineyards, is committed to the concept of true regional styles and will continue to expand its operations to produce quality wines. The company believes that the role of specialist wineries lies in the production of premium wines from varieties best suited to specific regions. Emphasis is placed on individual fruit character and the development of a recognisable estate wine style. This blend of Cabernet sauvignon and merlot is sourced from the estate's Trinders Vineyard and three long-term growers within the Margaret River region. Great care is taken in the vineyard and this is reflected in the the winery where light crushing is followed by a warm fermentation before cooling down to 25 ï C for the completion of fermentation. Regular pumping over for colour, flavour and tannin extraction occurs during the vigorous phase of ferment, tapering off towards the end. The degree of tannin extraction is determined by taste to achieve a balanced level of tannin mouthfeel. Batches are treated individually with skin contact ranging from 4 to 28 days. Each batch is given a light pressing; the harder pressings are separated. Once dry, the wine is inoculated for malolactic fermentation which occurs in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine is racked to 50:50 French and American oak barrels for 15 months. This has produced a final blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Lovely fruit driven wine. it is a deep crimson purple coloured wine. Showing intense aromas of aniseed, herb garden, plum with some cedar, it is a quite perfumed wine. Well poised the aromas are evident in the palate as the aniseed, plum and cedar flavours dominate this blend, while the fine slinky tannins have become leafy firm at the finish. (6 x 75 cl)

This has produced a long and fine wine with lovely fleshy white fruit and a crisp backbone. Considerable oak and fruit structure is balanced by fine acidity to give a powerful yet elegant effect. Description: Cabernet sauvignon and merlot are predominantly sourced from the estate's Trinders Vineyard and three long-term growers within the Margaret River region. The soils are comprised of laterite gravel loam over sandy clay sub-soil. The estate vines are planted at 2200 vines/ha and vertically trained on 1.5m trellises for cane pruning. In the other vineyards, the vines are close-spaced at 5000 vines/ha and trained on 1.8m vertical trellises. Small amounts of Cabernet and Merlot have also been introduced from our southern vineyards Foxcliffe and Chapman Brook.
