The fruit was harvested in excellent condition and following a gentle pressing the juice was cool fermented and after extended lees contact the wine was lightly fined, filtered and bottled. This Chardonnay displays stonefruit aromas on the nose while the complex palate is rich and creamy with a long lingering finish. (12 x 75 cl)

After a gentle pressing and light settling the chardonnay was barrel and tank fermented. This was followed by an extended lees contact period and lightly fined, filtered and bottled. The lovely yellow coloured Chardonnay displays stone fruit characters on the nose with delicate oak aromas from ageing. The fruit was harvested at night and transported to the winery where the fruit was gently pressed. Selecting only the free run and light pressings the juice was settled and cool fermented for an average of 19 days. Following an extended three month period of yeast lees contact the various parcels of Sauvignon Blanc were blended together, lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling. Intense gooseberry fruit on the nose with hints of guavaand papaya give way to a well balanced palate and long concentrated finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £114.78

Based on nearly twenty years of growing grapes and making wine, Sherwood Estate now specialise in Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Sherwood Estate produce three ranges of wines the Clearwater Range, the Sherwood Estate Range and the the Stratum Range. The Sherwood range proudly carries the name of the winery and reflects Sherwood Estate's commitment to the highest quality. The wines are varietally focussed and come from selected parcels in the Sherwood Estate Vinyards in Marlborough and Waipara. All the fruit was hand harvested and upon arrival at the winery, the fruit was destemmed, lightly crushed and gently tipped into open top fermenters. Yeast was added to initiate the ferment after a five day 'soak' period. Three times per day the cap was hand plunged and spent an average of 16 days 'on skins'. Next, Malolactic fermentation and oak maturation was undertaken for two months prior to blending and bottling. This deep red coloured Pinot Noir displays ripe, sweet plum notes with an edge of complexity on the nose. The nose follows onto the palate complemented by the rich and rounded style supported by fine grain tannins and smooth finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £117.26

The Sherwood Riesling was harvested late for optimum ripeness, next the fruit was gently crushed and pressed and settled prior to undergoing a cool fermentation. Following a light fining and filtration the wine was bottled. This wine captures the true essence of Waipara Riesling with a nose displaying floral aromas with hints of lemon and lime. The aroma follows through into the well balanced, crisp and rounded palate while the wine is showing good concentration of tangy lime fruit character offset by touches of honey while it finishes in an off-dry style. This Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown on Sherwood Estate's Selmes Road and Hammerichs Road vineyards in Marlborough. After harvest, the grapes went to the winery where the freerun juice portion was selected for barrel fermentation and ageing. Next, the wine spent 10 months on lees prior to blending, fining and bottling. The Clearwater Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc displays ripe passionfruit aromas supported by touches of capsicum. The Clearwater Riesling is from selected fruit at the Whitestone and Weka Creek Vineyards in Waipara. The fruit was harvested in excellent condition and selecting only the free run juice, the Riesling was cool fermented for 21 days. After an extended yeast lees contact the wine was light fined and filtered prior to bottling. This Riesling displays both delicacy and finesse.
