The renowned dryland Schobers vineyard in South Australia 's Clare Valley produced the Jimmy Watson Trophy winning 1994 Classic Clare Shiraz. A cool,dry ripening season led to vintage yields below average which served to concentrate grape flavours and colour. Following vintage, the wine was matured in new American and French oak for 18 months, and a further 18 months maturation in bottle prior to release. Deep ruby red in colour with purple hues, this wine displays attractive berry and plum aromas integrated with cedar and vanillin oak characters. Ripe, blackberry and chocolate flavours highlight a palate of great concentration and persistence of flavour.
