The Leconfield winery in Coonawarra was acquired by the Hamilton Group in 1981 to compliment the company's McLaren Vale operation. Leconfield's wines are today considered amongst the finest expressions of Coonawarra, the vineyards being situated on the Terra Rossa soil that makes the region's wines unique.

Description: The Parker Estate Vineyard, situated at the Southern end of Coonawarra, was established in 1985 on the rich Terra Rossa soil over limestone of Coonawarra and carries Cabernet Sauvignon as the predominant variety with minor plantings of Merlot and Petit Verdot. Deep crimson red in colour with purple tinges. The nose shows intense liquorice fruit with mocha coffee, mineral, violets and smoky cedar oak aromas. The palate is strong and firm with liquorice and cedar flavours following onto a long finish with complex tannin flavours and mouth feel. Full of deep, dark, dense black fruit with an element of spice which is classic Coonawarra Cabernet. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £195.41

Description: The Parker Estate Vineyard, situated at the Southern end of Coonawarra, was established in 1985 on the rich Terra Rossa soil over limestone of Coonawarra and carries Cabernet Sauvignon as the predominant variety with minor plantings of Merlot and Petit Verdot. Each vintage small quantities of the best fruit is selected for the Terra Rossa First Growth. If in any one year the grapes do not reach the high standard set, then no Terra Rossa First Growth is made, as was the case in 1992, 1995, 1997 & 2002 . Earning a reputation as the benchmark Coonawarra Shiraz, Michael is fermented and then matured in New American Oak for up to 18 months. It is deep red in colour with strong mulberry, peppery Shiraz berry aromas enriched with coffee bean American oak character in the nose. The palate is rich and full bodied with sweet ripe fruit contained within a firm, superbly balanced tannin structure that will grow in complexity with 10 to 15 years of bottle age.
