Description: In 1826, the proprietor of Chateau Langoa, Hugh Barton, purchased a part of the Leoville estate. His part from there on became known as Leoville Barton. Six generations of Bartons have since followed and have continued to preserve the quality of the wine. In 1983 Anthony Barton, the present owner, was given the property by his uncle, Ronald Barton. Anthony Barton's daughter, Lilian Barton Sartorius, now helps her father in managing the estate. Description: Chateau Langoa-Barton was the first of two estates bought by Hugh Barton in the 1820s, the other being Leoville-Barton. Since this time the Estates have remained with the family and today it is run by Anthony Barton and is assisted by his daughter. Great care is taken in the 15 ha gravel soil and clay sub-soil vineyard, that produces the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc grapes used in the blend of this wine. Once in the winery traditional methods are adopted and finally the wine is aged 20 months in oak before being released. This is a mature red coloured wine showing ripe dark fruit aromas. Well made with good concentration it is an elegant wine with a long finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £327.51
