In a similar way this Cabernet blend is our signature wine. It is a strong reflection of both our winemaking philosophy and our Matakana vineyard's terroir.This deep red wine is heady with aromas of ripe blackberries, blackcurrants, Black Doris plums and dark chocolate. Hints of smoky oak and subtle characters of cigar box and leather add a touch of mystery. Intense flavours of plump summer berries are layered with fine fruit tannins and subtle oak character. The complex yet seductively smooth palate leads on to a long soft finish.

This Pinot Gris comes from the original vineyard planted in 1984 and is made in the Alsace style with grapes that were picked late with a little botrytis influence. Fermented cool to retain varietal aromas and left sur lee for 5 month to gain extra palate texture this is a sophisticated Pinot Gris. It is typically quite rich with balanced acidity and a little residual sugar. The wine has inviting aromas of ripe stone fruits and a hint of floral characters. Description: Sherwood Estate is very much a family business, with Dayne and Jill Sherwood owning and operating it since the late 1980's. The winery is located in the picturesque Waipara Valley, while they have four vineyards also owned by Sherwood Estate in the famed Marlborough Region, at the top of the South Island. Based on nearly twenty years of growing grapes and making wine, Sherwood Estate now specialise in Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Sherwood Estate produce three ranges of wines the Clearwater Range, the Sherwood Estate Range and the the Stratum Range. The Clearwater range represents the very best varietal single vineyard wines from Sherwood Estate's own vineyards in Waipara. This is very much a hand crafted range both in the vineyards and winery, here meticulous care is taken to ensure that the wine produced is of the highest quality and reflects each vineyard's unique characteristics or 'terroir'. This Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown on Sherwood Estate's Selmes Road and Hammerichs Road vineyards in Marlborough. After harvest, the grapes went to the winery where the freerun juice portion was selected for barrel fermentation and ageing. Next, the wine spent 10 months on lees prior to blending, fining and bottling. The Clearwater Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc displays ripe passionfruit aromas supported by touches of capsicum.
