| Description: |
 |
The Moscato Rosa from Franz Haas has a deep cherry pink colour. In youth, it has intense perfumes of roses and cloves which change into faded roses and redberry fruits with age. The wine is very complex and smooth on the palate. Moscato Rosa is best drunk as an aperitif or an after dinner wine and will improve with age. It is perhaps one of Italy’s most sought after sweet wines. The Moscato Rosa is vinified as a red wine, with maceration on the skins to extract more colour. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and is stopped by reducing the temperature. After fermentation, it is racked into oak barrels where it matures for approximately 8-12 months depending on the vintage, followed by a period of six months in bottle before release. The Haas family have been growers in Montagna in the Province of Bolzano, Alto Adige for generations. It is only with Franz, however, the current proprietor, that they have begun to produce and bottle quality wines. The vineyards are primarily situated on and around the hilly slopes of Montagna at altitudes ranging from 250-800m above sea level. (12 x 37.5 cl)
