Glaetzer BISHOP Shiraz Barossa Valley South Australia
Description: Colin Glaetzer established Glaetzer wines in the Barossa in 1995. Colin had previously made some of the finest wines in the Barossa, including the renowned E & E Black Pepper Shiraz and Ebenezer range of wines. The wines have great concentration and complexity, with none of the over-ripe character that can mark some Australian wines. The fruit has a natural intensity of flavour. Bishop Shiraz shares many qualities with its 'big brother' Glaetzer Shiraz. This full-bodied wine is made redominantly from 30 to 60-year-old vines at Ebenezer and always contains material from the oldest 80-year-old vines. It is made from fruit components which are more up-front and generous (6 x 75 cl)

Rymill Coonawarra Shiraz South East Australia
Description: Shiraz has long been established in Coonawarra. The Shiraz from The Riddoch Run vineyards is harvested from vines growing in very shallow soil, which reduces crop yields, but produces intense, spicy, blackcurrant and peppery flavours that are enhanced by maturation in predominantly French oak barriques. Rich, flavoursome and balanced by fine-grained tannins, this wine can be enjoyed early or cellared for 6-8 years. (12 x 75 cl)

McWilliams STENTIFORD'S RESERVE Old Vines Shiraz Coonawarra South Australia
Description: Colour: Rich damson. Bouquet: Complex and intense with spice, plum and mulberry fruit characters, rich dusty cedar and cinnamon oak aromas. Dark chocolate and marzipan, derived from barrel maturation and bottle-age, are also evident. Palate: Rich and full-bodied with layers of ripe plum, spice and blackcurrant fruit flavours over spicy cinnamon, cedar oak and smooth dark chocolate. The wine finishes long and dry, with fine-grained dusty tannins. Cellaring: This wine is enjoyable now, but will benefit from five to ten years careful cellaring. Decant before serving. Winemaker Notes: After crushing, the must was transferred to headed-down fermentation tanks for the initiation of fermentation. To assist extraction of colour and flavour, the juice was pumped over three times daily for seven days. The juice was drained from the tank and the skins pressed, prior to transfer to 100 per cent new French hogsheads to complete primary and malolactic fermentation. Following fermentation, the wine was racked and then transferred to new oak hogsheads , where it was matured for 26 months. The Fruit: This super-premium Shiraz is sourced entirely from the original, 100-year-old vines on the acclaimed Laira Vineyard, and is named after Captain Stentiford, the English sea captain who established the vineyard in 1893. The grapes were harvested at the end of April . (6 x 75 cl)

Torbreck THE FACTOR Shiraz Barossa Valley
Description: This wine is composed of 100% Shiraz and was first produced from the 1998 vintage. In the early 1980s valuable Australian Shiraz vineyards were pulled out because of lack of market interest. The movement to cool climate viticulture and wine made the Barossa, of all places, look rather irrelevant. However this trend reversed dramatically with the internationalization of the Australian wine market and renewed enthusiasm of local buyers. This is our tribute to those surviving vines and is made in the traditional Barossa manner , rich and rewarding upon release and beautifully ethereal with age. Varietal : 100 percent Shiraz Regions : Marananga, Koonunga Hill, Moppa, Gomersal (6 x 75 cl)

Berton Vineyards BONSAI Shiraz High Eden South Australia
Description: These are Bob Berton's words to describe the wines produced from his own vineyard. 'It started as a joke. Cherie and I struggled to get our vineyard established on the the thin bony soil of High Eden, so after 5 years of big time effort, we still had vines that looked like rootlings. To ease the pain, we started calling it the 'Bonsai Vineyard'-and the name stuck.' The first crop of Shiraz has been worth waiting for. Intense, rich and full flavoured with integrated oak, this is a huge Shiraz. (12 x 75 cl)

Torbreck RUN RIG Shiraz Viognier Barossa Valley
Description: David Powell discovered some land in 1992 that had old Shiraz vines growing on it that were almost dead. After nursing them back to health he secured a contract to supply the grapes to a local grower. After realising that this hobby could be made into a business he decided to go full time. In 1994 he founded the company and named it Torbreck after a forrest in Scotland where he had worked as a lumberjack. Torbreck's flagship wine, RunRig is named after the Scottish Highland clans system to distribute land amongst its clansmen in a series of widely dispersed holdings or 'Runrig'. Great care is taken from the vineyard where the vines are over 100 years old to the winery, where the Shiraz cuvee spends 30 months in 60 percent new French Oak . The 3 percent estate grown Viognier is also fermented and aged for 6 months in barrel and then added to the blend just prior to bottling. This is a structured, muscular Shiraz blended with a little Viognier that is showing phenomenal density, dry vintage port-like concentration, and magnificent notes of smoke, blackberries, cassis, leather and coffee. A hint of viognier's sweet marmalade character comes through as the wine sits in the glass. Limited Availability. (6 x 75 cl)

Torbreck THE STRUIE Shiraz Barossa Valley
Description: David Powell discovered some land in 1992 that had old Shiraz vines growing on it that were almost dead. After nursing them back to health he secured a contract to supply the grapes to a local grower. After realising that this hobby could be made into a business he decided to go full time. In 1994 he founded the company and named it Torbreck after a forrest in Scotland where he had worked as a lumberjack. The Struie sources fruit from the high altitudes of Eden Valley imparting delicate spice, white pepper and fruit characters. While the Barossa component displays a richer, deeper, more brooding flavour and intensity. The combined structure will reward extended cellaring.A 'modern classic' 'The view from the Struie down across the Dornoch Firth is as inspiring as that of the Valley floor from the Barossa Ranges. This wine is a blend of Shiraz from the Eden and Barossa Valleys, combining the best of both regions'. David Powell Varietal : 100 percent Shiraz Regions : Eden Valley and Barossa Valley .
