Pol Roger RICH Non Vintage Champagne
Description: 1999 was an annus mirabilis for Pol Roger, with record international sales to mark the company's 150th year in independant family ownership. 2000 was inevitably less dramatic, but saw the company embark upon an ambitious FF15m investment programme, including a state-of-the-art extension to the fermentation cellar, supervised by Dominique Petit, the Chef de Caves. With stocks of 6.5million bottles representing some five 'normal' years supply, Pol Roger remains among the smaller of the great Champagne houses and uncompromising in its refusal to release wines on to the market before they are fully mature. The company owns some 85 hectares of vineyards on prime sitesin the Vallee d'Epernay and on the Cotes des Blancs, drawing the remainder of its supplies under contract from a further 115 hectares owned by individual growers in the chalk below the Avenue de Champagne, the Pol Roger cellars are among the deepestt and coolest in the region: hence the exquisite mousse which distinguishes all the company's Champagnes (24 x 37.5 cl)
