Calem QUINTA da FOZ Single Quinta 1984 Vintage Port Description: Quinta is the Portuguese word for vineyard and thus, whenever a vintage port has the word quinta, one can be guaranteed that grapes come entirely from this place. Quinta da Foz is situated in the heart of Port Wine country with steep terraced slopes reaching all the way down to the Douro River. This special vintage has a deep, dark inky colour. Its rich bouquet is predominantly of forest fruits, notably ripe plums and prunes, with touches of cocoa and spices. On tasting it is mature, complex, full and rounded. Using only the best grapes of the 1986 harvest, this vintage port was aged for two years in fine oak vats before bottling. Ready to drink now, it will continue to mature for decades . As vintage port forms a natural deposit, stand the bottle upright for a couple of hours before careful decanting. This is a good vintage to have after a good dinner accompanied by a rich fruit tart or with mature cheeses (6 x 75 cl) Price: £121.90

Calem LBV Port Description: This is wine produced from a single year of exceptional quality, aged in wood and bottled between the fourth and the sixth year after harvest. It does not require ageing in the bottle and is perfect for those who want to appreciate the complex characteristics of vintages without having to wait for the Port to age. This wine can be consumed immediately but will continue to mature in the bottle. Characteristics are a deep ruby colour, rounded body and aromas of blackberries and pepper. If drunk young the LBV does not require decanting but after time it will throw off naturally occurring sediment and would benefit from careful decanting. Ideal on its own, it also combines well with strong cheeses and dried fruits. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £73.30

Quinta do Crasto LBV Port Douro
Description: The modern winemaking era of Quinta do Crasto dates back as far as 1615, but its Roman ruins suggest earlier viticultural activity. Port is, and always will be, a fundamental part of Quinta do Crasto; the quinta's commitment to Port is refelcted in the high quality of its fortified wines. In the case of Ports and table wines alike, only the best wines of the quinta's total production are bottled under the Quinta do Crasto label. For many years, the vineyard, owned by the Roquette family, sold its grapes to A.A. Ferreira until a revision in shipping laws made it possible for Quinta do Crasto to ship its own Port. It has produced a very dark strawberry red coloured Port, with powerful aromas of dark forrest fruit and earth. Wtih rounded spicy, plumy fruit flavours this wine is complemented by its good length. (6 x 75 cl) Price: £94.50

W & J Graham's 1994 Vintage Port Description: The Graham family entered the Port trade in 1820, when William and John Graham, manning the Douro office, accepted a consignment of Port as settlement of a bad debt. The Port was sent on to their main offices in Glasgow, Scotland, where it proved very popular, and the seed had been sown. After the harvest, wines of Vintage potential are put into oak barrels called 'pipes'. Some eighteen months later a careful and painstaking series of tastings is held to judge exactly which wines of different vineyards merit inclusion in the final blend. If the ideal blend is achieved, the wine is then bottled without any filtration whatsoever approximately 24 months after the original harvest. It was immediately evident during the vintage that the wines would be very intense and fruity. This has been borne out by their development and Graham's 1994 Vintage is rich, deep coloured and packed with fruit. It is distinctly reminiscent of the Graham's 1970. One of the top wines of the Vintage, to keep. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £663.00

Graham's Vintage Ports are the epitome of richness and concentration, and the 1994 vintage is a red full Bodied and Sweet port.
Dow's Crusted Port Description: The wines used for Dow's Crusted Port come principally from the company's two prime vineyards, Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira. . Dow's Crusted is a blend of excellent young ports from two or three harvests, bottled without any fining or filtration. The Port was then aged in bottle in the Dow's cellars in Portugal for three years before being offered for sale. Crusted Port derives its name from the fact, that exactly like Vintage Port it will throw a 'crust' or natural deposit with bottle age. As with Vintage Port the wine should be stored lying down and will require decanting prior to serving.. This Crusted Port is a deep dark red colour, while on the nose concentrated and rich aromas of cherry fruit abound with hints of spices also evident. On the palate it is firm and with great depth, excellent grip and a long finish. (12 x 75 cl) Price: £167.88
