Seaview Australian Sparkling White Wine Brut
Description: Seaview Brut reigns as the largest-selling, bottle-fermented sparkling wine in Australia. It has earned an international reputation for outstanding quality, consistency and excellent value. Seaview's strength is initially founded in its ability to source premium quality fruit from diverse and extensive vineyards in some of the country's best wine regions, to achieve a consistency of style. Many of these vineyards specialise in the traditional grape varieties and are located in cool climate regions. Grape varieties: A blend of quality grapes, including Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc and Semillon. Vineyard regions: Major premium vineyard regions of South Australia. Maturation: Malolactic fermentation of base wines. The wine underwent secondary fermentation in the bottle, matured on yeast lees for a minimum nine months, and then disgorged. Appearance: Pale, lemon-gold with a fine, persistent bead. Nose: Fresh and inviting, showing complex fruit characters enhanced by bread-like yeast aromas. Palate: A wine in the typical Seaview sparkling style. The palate is full and rich, featuring soft-fruit characters and crisp acidity, balanced by a refreshing, dry finish in the classic Brut style. Malolactic fermentation of some of the base wines and bottle maturation on yeast lees have contributed to the mouth-filling flavours and soft, creamy texture. Designed for immediate enjoyment, Seaview Brut is the ideal choice for any occasion. Serve chilled. (6 x 75 cl)

Trinity Hill HIGH COUNTRY Pinot Noir Gimblett Gravels Hawke's Bay NZ
Description: Characters of black fruits, such as plums, blackcurrant and cherry are evident, along with raspberry aromas. However, this wine is more about texture and structure than primary fruit, with complexity derived from the different clones and winemaking techniques used. We expect the wine to gain further complexity with bottle age as secondary characters of mushrooms and undergrowth develop. 2-3 years bottle aging is recommended. Gentle handling of the grapes, without stalks, with a number of different fermentation techniques, including hand plunging and anaerobic pumping over, has resulted in a supple, silky texture. Experience and skills attained over two vintages by our winemakers at one of Burgundy's best domaines give us the confidence to produce top Pinot Noir. The wine was aged for 10 months in new Burgundy barriques. Great care was taken during barrel aging to protect the fragile nature of this grape variety from contact with air. It was bottled in February 2004 unfined, but lightly filtered to prevent negative microbiological activity during bottle aging. (12 x 75 cl)

Trinity Hill HIGH COUNTRY Pinot Noir Gimblett Gravels Hawke's Bay NZ
Description: Hawkes Bay has a unique micro climate where vines reach deep into the stony, free draining soil of the old Ngaruroro riverbed, sheltered from the prevailing Westerly winds, basking in an abundance of dry, warm weather. At Trinity Hill's Gimblett Road Vineyards, the river stones gently release their heat long after the sun has set. This helps to promote perfect ripening of the grapes. Vines are planted, trained and pruned to expose as much leaf and fruit to sunlight as possible. North-South planted vine rows allow the mid day sun to warm the ground between rows, while removal of shoots and flowers early in the season reduces the crop level and opens the vine out to light and air. Using these techniques, the winegrowers at Trinity Hill grow moderate crops to consistently produce concentrated flavour and colour intensity in the finished wine. Characters of black fruits, such as plums, blackcurrant and cherry are evident, along with raspberry aromas. However, this wine is more about texture and structure than primary fruit, with complexity derived from the different clones and winemaking techniques used. (12 x 75 cl)

Mitolo REIVER Shiraz Barossa Valley Australia
Description: Dark ruby coloured wine showing a nose that has hints of liquorice, cherry, liqueur and earthy leathery notes. The palate is dense while showing lively hints of truffle, espresso and a lively mineral finish. The grapes come from a single vineyard in Greenock in the northern part of the Barossa Valley which is situated at 550 metres above sea level and grown in a continental climate. The average age of the vines is around 60 years old and they receive very little irrigation to produce fruit of great flavour and concentration. The name 'Reiver' is taken from the border raiders of the Anglo-Scot borders. Throughout the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries the border country was ravaged by lawless Reiver families in a vicious cycle of raid, reprisal and blood feud. Their allegiance was first to the family, the surname, and not the crown, whether English or Scottish. (6 x 75 cl)

Cape Mentelle Shiraz Margaret River Western Australia
Description: One of the country's finest wine regions, Margaret River enjoys a maritime location, with the added advantage of a long dry growing season. Cape Mentelle was one of the first vineyards established in the Margaret River region. First planted in 1970, there are today over 180 hectares under vine and the winery was constructed in 1977. Cape Mentelle Vineyards, is committed to the concept of true regional styles and will continue to expand its operations to produce quality wines. The company believes that the role of specialist wineries lies in the production of premium wines from varieties best suited to specific regions. Emphasis is placed on individual fruit character and the development of a recognisable estate wine style. Shiraz is mainly sourced from our Wallcliffe and Trinders vineyards near the winery, planted respectively 26 and 13 years ago, grown on gravel laterite soils derived from weathered granite with a gravel-clay sub-soil. A small amount of Shiraz is also sourced from the McHenry and Darnell vineyards planted respectively 7 kilometres west and 20 kilometres east of Margaret River, both on the banks of the Margaret River. Here the soils are a free draining, alluvial based soil type with a sheltered northerly aspect, the vines are also cane pruned with the canopy trained vertically. Shoot and leaf removal is employed during the course of the season on all vines. The Karri Park vineyard is a new addition to the blend and offers fruit exhibiting intense peppery flavours. This vineyard is located on coastal sands, in the southern part of the cape and is grown in a similar fashion to the other vineyards we source from.. Aged in Oak this is a classy and typically brash, plummy, spicy Shiraz. Lush ripe plump-prune flavours are evident in this densely packed wine showing loads of fruit laced with spice. A Lucious palate, as well as a supple and harmonious structure combine with a complex flavour range from sweet to savoury in this wine as one savours the long finish. (12 x 75 cl)

Cape Mentelle Cabernet Merlot Margaret River Western Australia
Description: Cape Mentelle Vineyards, established by David and Mark Hohnen and now part of the Moet Hennessy Wine Estates, is a specialist producer of premium wines in Margaret River in the south west corner of Western Australia. One of the country's finest wine regions, Margaret River enjoys a maritime location, with the added advantage of a long dry growing season. This blend of Cabernet sauvignon and merlot is sourced from the estate's Trinders Vineyard and three long-term growers within the Margaret River region. Great care is taken in the vineyard and this is reflected in the the winery where light crushing is followed by a warm fermentation before cooling down to 25 ï C for the completion of fermentation. Regular pumping over for colour, flavour and tannin extraction occurs during the vigorous phase of ferment, tapering off towards the end. The degree of tannin extraction is determined by taste to achieve a balanced level of tannin mouthfeel. Batches are treated individually with skin contact ranging from 4 to 28 days. Each batch is given a light pressing; the harder pressings are separated. Once dry, the wine is inoculated for malolactic fermentation which occurs in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine is racked to 50:50 French and American oak barrels for 15 months. This has produced a final blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Lovely fruit driven wine. it is a deep crimson purple coloured wine. Showing intense aromas of aniseed, herb garden, plum with some cedar, it is a quite perfumed wine. Well poised the aromas are evident in the palate as the aniseed, plum and cedar flavours dominate this blend, while the fine slinky tannins have become leafy firm at the finish. (6 x 75 cl)

Cape Mentelle Chardonnay Margaret River Western Australia
Description: Cape Mentelle Vineyards, established by David and Mark Hohnen and now part of the Moet Hennessy Wine Estates, is a specialist producer of premium wines in Margaret River in the south west corner of Western Australia. One of the country's finest wine regions, Margaret River enjoys a maritime location, with the added advantage of a long dry growing season. Cape Mentelle was one of the first vineyards established in the Margaret River region. First planted in 1970, there are today over 180 hectares under vine and the winery was constructed in 1977. The company believes that the role of specialist wineries lies in the production of premium wines from varieties best suited to specific regions. Emphasis is placed on individual fruit character and the development of a recognisable estate wine style. The fruit for this wine is sourced from three sites, with most coming from the McHenry Vineyard, which has a sheltered north-easterly aspect and deep gravel loam soils sloping down to the Margaret River. This low-yielding vineyard provides quality fruit that forms the backbone of the blend. The Chapman Brook vineyard also provides grapes, planted in 1993-4, it is located about 20km south-east of Margaret River and is now a major contributor to this wine with its crisp, clean citrus flavoured fruit. The chardonnay grows on a north facing slope with well-drained grey gravel loam soils. Finally, the sandy loam soils of the Maiolo Vineyard, further north in the region, produce fruit contributing to the ripe, full-bodied characters of the wine. All vineyards are spur pruned and vertical shoot positioned to enhance sunlight exposure. The machine-harvested Maiolo fruit was crushed, must-chilled and pressed to stainless steel tanks for cold settling prior to racking off gross lees to another tank for inoculation with prise de mousse yeast, which produces clean, fruit driven wines. The company believes that the role of specialist wineries lies in the production of premium wines from varieties best suited to specific regions. Emphasis is placed on individual fruit character and the development of a recognisable estate wine style. Half of the grapes are sourced from estate vineyards and the other half from contract growers in the Margaret River region. Gravel laterite soils predominate in most of the best vineyards with some sandy loam soils in others. A range of canopy management strategies are employed, all with the objective of maximising sunlight into the fruiting zone. Cape Mantelle take a minimal approach to vinification of this blend as it is geared to maximising fruit flavour with a distinctive regional nuance. Fruit is machine harvested at night to ensure that it arrives at the winery in cool condition. A small amount of SO2 and a pectolytic enzyme to aid in settling is added to the fruit before crushing/destemming and transfer through a must chiller to a tank press. The juice is gently expressed from the skins the yield is only small. The juice is then racked off gross lees and fermented at 15 degrees Celsius in stainless steel tanks with 20% of the blend fermented in new French and American oak barrels and left on lees for ten weeks. All batches are simply bentonite fined and filtered before blending the batches judged to be the best. Heady aromas of passionfruit, orange blossom, ripe lemons and notes of tarragon mingle with a waft of vanilla derived from barrel fermentation. The palate is creamy and textural, with vibrant, flamboyant citrus flavours that finish crisp and clean, with great length and focus. (6 x 75 cl)

Lanzerac Estate Stellenbosch Merlot RSA
Description: The vineyards of Lanzerac are to be found in the quiet and utterly serene surroundings of the Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch, South Africa. It was here that in 1958, following the French practice of combining wine farm and country hotel, that the Lanzerac homestead was transformed into a luxury manor. More recently, in 1991, South African businessman Christo Wiese purchased the Lanzerac farm and set about renovating the homestead and its land. In the process, the Lanzerac Manor and Winery was restored to its former glory as one of the region's most distinguished examples of Cape Dutch architecture. Wynand Hamman was appointed as winemaker and immediately set about replanting the vineyards and building a truly modern cellar. All wines are therefore made, bottled and produced on the 155 hectare country estate. Although this limits production capacity, it assists winemaker Wynand Hamman in concentrating on growing the right varieties for our unique terroir and to handle the fruit and wines with greater care and respect. Due to this quality-orientated policy we have helped pioneer the noble white varieties in South Africa and are proud to have received various national and international awards and accolades for our efforts. This Merlot has a deep and dark red colour while on the nose the wine shows the typical varietal flavours of blackberry, plum, chocolate and fresh cream. A slight hint of vanilla from the wood also shows on the nose. The wine is well balanced with a good tannin structure and the fruit-flavours give a lingering aftertaste followed by a slight oakiness. (12 x 75 cl)

Redbank THE LONG PADDOCK Merlot Victoria Australia
Description: Redbank’s badge, the Anvil, is a symbol of times gone by when the early settlers handcrafted their farming implements with the heat of the blazing forge and the strength of the anvil. This strength was apparent in the hard working migrants who established a thriving farming community in the rugged High Country of North East Victoria. Today a small, select 'family' of growers, some direct descendents of the original pioneers, produce premium fruit for the wines of Redbank. Vineyards that are lashed by blizzardly cold winter winds and buried in snow for part of the year emerge at harvest with grapes of the highest quality that enable the Redbank winemakers to produce superb cool climate wines. The Long Paddock Merlot is bright cherry red in colour while it has a lifted, fruit driven nose of blood plums, mulberry, cherries, spice and toast. A soft, fine grained palate, with ripe supple fruits, blood plums, blackberry jubes and aniseed spice notes. The soft finish reveals spice and lovely integrated oak. The Long Paddock wines honour the ingenuity and courage of the early Australian drovers. Inflicted with cruel and regular droughts, these men and women faced the option of giving up and starving along with their cattle and sheep or flinging open their boundary gates and allowing their stumbling, starving stock to roam the bush roads and tracks in the desperate hope of finding food and water. Somewhere. Anywhere. This was known as 'droving the Long Paddock', a task that could take them away from their family and home for months and months. Sometimes even years. Fortunately some stock was saved. Unfortunately for some, when the rains didn’t come the heartbreak of seeing their stock die became a regular occurrence. Inspired by the courage of these brave pioneers, Redbank began sourcing selected fruit from many of Victoria’s premium wine growing regions. This was the beginning of the Long Paddock tradition. Today, Redbank selects much of its fruit for our Long Paddock wines from the high altitude King and Ovens Valleys in Victoria’s North East.
