The Wynns Shiraz offers exceptional quality and value. Dominated by the classic, black pepper and mulberry characteristics typical of Coonawarra Shiraz, it has all the complexity and structure to develop further depth in the medium term. Matured in new and used, small American and French barrels for 10 months. Deep, dark red with purple hues. Ripe, spicy, with dark berry and black pepper aromas to the fore. Smooth and well-balanced with light cedary oak and sweet fruit. Fine-grained tannins underpin the wine and add to its great length of flavour. While excellent drinking now, the Wynns Coonawarra Estate Shiraz will evolve with careful cellaring over the next three to five years. (6 x 75 cl)

Thomson Estate TOOLUNKA FLAT Cabernet Sauvignon Riverland South Australia
Description: Thomson Estate Vintners is a family owned company, based at Waikerie in South Australia's Riverland Region. The Thomson family have been growing grapes in the area for over 75 years and are considered one of the regions best vignerons. There are approximately 700 acres under vine and with clean dry air, open space, fresh river water combined with iron rich Terra Rossa soil promoting healthy disease free vineyards. Abundant in sunshine and cleansing dry breezes the warm spring and a dry summer creating ideal growing conditions, while the grapes are harvested in the cool of the night to ensure optimum fruit quality. The fruit is highly regarded for its excellent fruit intensity owing to the age of the vineyard. This is a typical Cabernet Sauvignon from the Riverland that displays a complex aroma of perfumed blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. This wine is no exception, showing plenty of berry fruits with a hint of violet. Fine cedary tannin and firm acidity give this wine a tight structure. Windowrie THE MILL Cabernet Merlot Cowra New South Wales Australia
Description: The Mill Cabernet Merlot is an excellent example of the harmony these varietals can exhibit when blended. The colour is deep berry red and has aromas of fruit, spice and American Oak. The palate displays soft integrated oak with concentrated fruit and soft lingering finish. Growing Season The Cabernet fruit in this wine is sourced from the oldest vines on the estate. The vines are hand pruned in winter to ensure a small crop load while allowing sunlight into the canopy. The vines are then trained during the growing season with a bunch thinning occurring. The Cabernet was picked ripe in early April . The Merlot portion is also sourced from old vines trained to a Scott Henry Trellis System. Restricted Irrigation led to yield of 2.5t acre. The fruit was harvested in mid March. Winemaking The Cabernet and Merlot portions are both made separately until final blending which took place in February . The final blend contained 86% Cabernet and 14% Merlot. Both the Cabernet and Merlot were fermented in small open fermenters following crushing with the rollers open. The ferment was seeded with Bordeaux red yeast and maintained at 25-30ºC. Following ferment the wine was transferred to 2, 3 and 4 year old French and American barriques. The wine was racked every two months before final blending and bottling. (12 x 75 cl)

Description: The wine has ripe plum and liquorice aromas with white pepper and charred oak overtones. The fruit for this wine was harvested from the Deakin Estate vineyard in Red Cliffs, North West Victoria. Once in the winery this 100% Shiraz is fermented in a dozen different batches and then each submitted to slightly different maturation conditions. The components have then been manipulated to elicit complexity in the blend. Winemaker Phil Spillman considered: Colour: Medium-deep red. This Italian family have six generations of winemaking experience, while the Casella family winery was founded in 1965. Today it is run by John Casella, an extremely talented and highly respected winemaker who aims to produce top qualitv wines from this region. John Casella was amongst the first to select premium vineyard sites used for the production of premium varieties and the vineyards now extend to 250 hectares. The vineyard is planted with Semilion, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Botrytis Semilion, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Gewurztraminer, Colombard, Marsanne, Verdelho and Durif. Casella have made tremendous advances in viticultural techniques, particularly with canopy training, minimal pruning and controlled drip irrigation. These factors, coupled with restricted yields has enabled Casella to produce some of the top wines from this region.

The wine shows good depth, being medium red to red/purple in colour. On the nose there is abundant raspberry, cherry and plum jam characters. Description: Arlewood Estate was established in 1988 in the Willyabrup Valley of the Margaret River wine region in Western Australia. The Gosatti family in partnership planted a small vineyard near Cowaramup in 1995, and acquired Arlewood Estate in 1999. In October 2005, The Gosatti Family completed an outright purchase of Arlewood to pursue the vision that is starting to crystalise with the release of some wines worthy of their situation. The total area under vine is 15 hectares and the plantings include 17 year old Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon vines; 11 year old Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Franc; 10 year old Chardonnay, along with newer plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot.
